Congratulations human, you are now adding value to AI by volunteering as an assistant data generator!

NEW blog: please don't use #AI to write porn.

Ludicrously cute image by @stuart_cb

If this one doesn't get tonnes of shares here on Mastodon of all places then I am gonna pack it all in and go live by the beach somewhere.

@girlonthenet This is such a good article that applies to other things on top of porn too. It's why we shouldn't be using it *anywhere*.

I'm also low-key dreading the people who socialise themselves on AI chatbots, particularly for relationships, and then expect their real life partners, when they get them, to behave like that.

Fantastic pic by Stuart too. And a good pun 😂

@girlonthenet @stuart_cb if people who use AI to write code are 'vibe coders' are people who use it to write porn 'vib(e)rators'? :P
@girlonthenet Thank you for describing what LLMs do: generate sentences that sound plausible.
I have the feeling that many people who are enthusiastic about ChatGPT etc do not know that *fundamental* fact. I hope this will help some of them understand that and enable them to see some of the problems with LLMs
Besides all those other problems (ethics, copyright, not really generating anything new, …) that you also mention and explain
@Larymir @girlonthenet I describe it as "spicy autocorrect" when I'm discussing it at work - it's definitely not good news.

@girlonthenet @stuart_cb According to the corporate model, if people start using AI to write porn, they will also need AI bots to read and summarize the porn.

And seriously, who has time to get off manually these days? We're going to need AI bots to enjoy the porn that is written by AI and read by AI.

At last, recreational sex has been safely delegated to sterile computer programs so that you have all the more time to consume instead of create.

@AmusCobblestone @girlonthenet @stuart_cb Finally! I mean, who has the time to meet their own self-actualisation needs!
@AmusCobblestone @girlonthenet @stuart_cb this sounds like Douglas Adams’ electric monk. It does the praying/worship so you have time for more important stuff, although these days that would probably be regarded as being a good consumer.

@AmusCobblestone @girlonthenet @stuart_cb let me save all those CPU cycles and summarize:

she came X times
he came Y times

and we all know Y==1, and most time X==0, but she fakes like 10.

@girlonthenet I love this!! I've been thinking about this a lot, too. We're humans and deep down, we crave connection with other humans.

@girlonthenet

I'm reminded when an old friend of mine in the mid 1990s ran all of the Usenet newsgroup alt.sex.stories archivesthrough a Markov chain.

We asked him what his Markov chain generated and his answer was:

“It wasn't coherent but it was definitely pornography”.

LLM-backed generative AI is an evolutionary, not revolutionary, advancement from Markov chains.

@girlonthenet ... please also don't use it for anything else?
