Noticing I had the back piece of the corset the wrong way around all this time, but before I put in the eyelets and washers I have a limited quantity of: Good

Not noticing it before I'd put in the petersham ribbon facing and the waist tape sandwiched below it, and all the topstitching for the boning channels: Tedious

I'd probably save more time by re-cutting the back pieces and doing it all again, but I don't want to waste the expensive and nice fabric, so I guess I'll be doing a pretty solid amount of unpicking...

Very summarily trying on one half of the corset and wondering if it's small enough. The other version of this I did could have entirely closed with some persuasion, and this one is of stiffer material so it might require even more persuasion for the same... I figure it doesn't actually have to be very tightly laced, I'm more likely to shove more padding under it than pull it much tighter, so it should be fine. And yet!

Ehh, fuck it. Just gonna finish it as is, should be fine.

Putting on a little petersham ribbon to hide a seam allowance, but also wondering if I should put a bone there too... The trouble with making your own modifications to patterns, even if you've done it a million times before, is that you'll have to make actual decisions!

If the fabric was more flimsy, I'd absolutely put a double boning channel next to the busk, but here I don't know if it's at all necessary, and the ribbon only would reduce bulk quite a lot. Nhhhhh decisions

Well. I think I'm gonna put the ribbon down the inside front to neaten up the seam allowance and put the eyelets on the corset so I can actually try it on and ponder on it while it's actually on my body, so I can see where the bones want to go. I know there's a specific point where it's uncomfortable on me because of one wonky rib, but of course I can't figure out where just from staring at the corset flat on my desk! Eyelets time.

Eyelets time tomorrow for sure, not today. Spent some time adding in the waist tape (takes strain off and hides some seams) and back facing (hides a seam allowance and keeps eyelets from touching skin) and the front facing (hides a seam allowance and the other end of the waist tape, and makes a tiny little extra boning channel)
I must use the sleep.

Hee hee hee, still pretty. Now with even more stitching!
@sinituulia Aaaaaaaarrgh!!!!
@GinevraCat Almost two hours of unpicking later I am now done!

@sinituulia As we say in Dutch (and Afrikaans), sterkte*!

(*wishing you strength for the resewing).
