One more of these taller, woven ones... And then I absolutely have to come up with a slightly different design because these will be harder to put on the more slanted bits and I'm kind of bored with doing them! One takes about 15-20 minutes to leisurely do while listening to shows.

Trying out a fairly simple bit of flossing on the corset. I have a couple of nice pale cotton flosses that are not the most durable things in the world, but pretty.
Maybe I'll go for a more woven design on the double boning channels, or try a pale pink... We'll see.

Finished the construction of the corset apart from the flossing that is both a decorative element and keeps the corset bones from moving, poking out etc. by securing the ends in place... Could try it on, but it's cold and dark and I don't feel like it yet. 😶

Now I need to come up with a design for the flossing, as there are many historical examples and you could come up with pretty much anything, as it's just embroidery. I must ponder it.

In any case, the top binding of the corset is in place, and I just need to finish a couple of the thread ends while I further procrastinate on preparing and putting in any of the boning. Not today!

New day, even more topstitching. All the boning channel tapes are attached and properly sewn on two sides, and some of them are also sewn in the middle, thus creating two channels for the tiny little narrow synthetic whalebone.
Next: Unpicking all the bits I had to redo because it's kind of hard to tidily sew through so many layers of coutil and the thick tape, and also the basting threads.

Behold my heroic efforts! Firstly the eleven million times I tried different placements for the back boning channels, as denoted by all these little scars in the fabric... The boning tape is lovely but also very thick so I tried very hard to not overlap the flat felled seams too much. Applaud also me posting these photos after all, am tired.

It's always nice when you can finally try on the thing after hours upon hours of work put into it, and it actually fits? Anyway, the corset has just the busk and two bones and the back so I've not tightened it... But pretty good! This one won't probably need very many bones, really, but I'm gonna stare at these clips and the photos I took to figure out where I want them. (Slightly skimpy fitting GIFs!)

Eyelets time tomorrow for sure, not today. Spent some time adding in the waist tape (takes strain off and hides some seams) and back facing (hides a seam allowance and keeps eyelets from touching skin) and the front facing (hides a seam allowance and the other end of the waist tape, and makes a tiny little extra boning channel)
I must use the sleep.

Noticing I had the back piece of the corset the wrong way around all this time, but before I put in the eyelets and washers I have a limited quantity of: Good

Not noticing it before I'd put in the petersham ribbon facing and the waist tape sandwiched below it, and all the topstitching for the boning channels: Tedious

It's not the absolute neatest work I've ever done but I hope you'll still find it suitably impressive. The hip gussets! They're on, and the side seams have been joined in such a way that they all match!
