Can an Ikea bike trailer match a cargo bike? Putting a bargain-bin cargo bike trailer to the test

@shifter I'm able to fit myself, my folding bike (without even having to fold it) and my handcart type trailer into a standard residential elevator. Most shops are also OK with me using my trailer as a shopping cart so it's easy to keep my stuff with me when doing a multi-shop trip. The down side is the minority of shops that do not allow the trailer inside.

@shifter Huh, this just showed up in my feed a year and a half later xD

It's an interesting cart - I like the flatbed. It's not unlike the latest one I built.

(Mine also has a forward wheel, wheel locking, and removable pushbar in back to turn into a pushcart, and _dang_ that adds utility.)

I do a lot of bike cargo hauling and I've ended up using my first cart less than maybe I'd've expected when deciding to build it, but I also think I'll use the new one more than the old.

As you noted, the heavier weight means more stability. It just feels better. Push the pushcart configuration.

Still want a true cargo bike but... trailers - particularly hooked up to eBikes, for obvious reasons - are good.

@shifter

We love our bike trailer. I especially love when I can bike my gear to summer patio music gigs! Few things feel as good as pedaling to a local patio, playing music for a few house 100% battery powered, and then pedaling home!

I wish someone like you would do a deep dive on the HipStar hiking trailer thing, especially when attached to a bike
