Louvre Thieves Given Immunity After Confirming Jewels Stolen For Purpose Of Training AI Software 🇬🇧

"When we realised these jewels were only stolen to inflate the share price of a company whose entire value relies on the wholesale theft of other people’s art, we had no choice but grant these scamps immunity,” confirmed French prosecutor Alain Barbier."

Louvre Thieves Given Immunity After Confirming Jewels Stolen For Purpose Of Training AI Software

FRENCH POLICE have immediately ended all efforts to recover priceless Napoleon-era jewellery from the Louvre taken in a daring heist after it emerged the jewels were merely stolen for the purposes of training AI software. "When …

@Natasha_Jay this is fair. I mean forcing AI companies to actually own the jewellery they use to train AI would, as Nick Clegg said, destroy the AI industry overnight.
@Natasha_Jay I almost fell for it 🤣
@Natasha_Jay if this wasnt France but the u.s., i would have hard times getting the satire

@Natasha_Jay

We are living in times where I for a few seconds considered this to be true.
FFS!

@Natasha_Jay I've seldomly seen an article that was so spot-on. Brilliant.

@Natasha_Jay LMAO Lovely piece of satire, indeed.  😎

Artificial "intelligence" driven by real theft.

@Natasha_Jay WHAT????
@RobinFriend @Natasha_Jay The whole site is satire, like the onion. I do wish that was more clear in the top-level post or the article, but if you check the "disclaimer" page for that website, it makes it clear it is satire.

@BoydStephenSmithJr @RobinFriend @Natasha_Jay Usually legit reporters don't say they're going to use the money to piss people off in their blurbs asking for subscriptions and whatnot. That's about the only clue you get on the article page.

That and...it's not just dripping, that's a torrent.

@crazyeddie @RobinFriend @Natasha_Jay

1. Poe's Law
b. None of that is in the top-level post; (EDITED) even tho it does have an excerpt.

I didn't actually read most of the article since on my phone it was covered up with 2+ modern pop-ups, and I was really just looking to confirm it was satire. (Which, at least on my phone, wasn't explicitly disclosed on the page I was presented when following the link.)

@Natasha_Jay This should have been an Onion headline. ROFLAMO.
@Natasha_Jay If they actually went for a prosecution of the company they probably WOULD grant immunity to the thieves :p

@Natasha_Jay

There's a thin line between satire and reality these days, and sometimes I have no idea where it is.

@number6
> There's a thin line between satire and reality these days ..

The moment #realsatire becomes satire and reality unreal ..

@Natasha_Jay

Still on my first morning coffee and was so confused for a second 😭 Gotta add /s at the end lol

@Natasha_Jay

I’m embarrassed to admit that the headline didn’t surprise me at first….

@Natasha_Jay I voted for Frump to train AI...

*sigh*

@Natasha_Jay the world has gone crazy
@Natasha_Jay Every time I hear about AI, I feel like crying... First time it happens because I can't stop laughing! What a take! I'll use that next time I get stuck in an AI-isn-t-teft argument.
@Natasha_Jay funny and sad at the same time! 😂😭
@Natasha_Jay
Something just doesn't smell right.
@Natasha_Jay love it 🤣😂🤣
@Natasha_Jay Not gonna lie they got me in the first half
@Natasha_Jay
This is ziemlich brilliant.
@Natasha_Jay Slam dunk. thank you for giving me a bitter laugh.
@Natasha_Jay this isn’t a good analogy though because piracy isn’t theft.
@Natasha_Jay Some people demanded prison, but what they don't realize is: their business model just does not work when they need to pay for the jewellery they are selling.
@Natasha_Jay This satire reminds me, how many AI bros draw the line of real™️ theft at physical items. Their enlightened futurist brains can't grasp the concept of abuse enacted from the digital realm. Digital theft is just too abstract and sci-fi for them. They don't get it until a real item is stolen. :>
@Natasha_Jay
Bien sûr ; c'est ce qui explique que les directeur du musée, préfet de police, ministres de la culture, de l'intérieur et de la justice n'ont pas démissionné !

@Natasha_Jay Ohhh it sounds ridiculous.
