Also curious for a local wool supply, of course. :> But I got a lot of hemp now that I want to use up.

Getting familiar with a new crafting material – hemp insulation. To maybe replace foam on an articulated tail for example. I'll have to research if soda affects glue.

AARGH This guy just greeted me from the ceiling. He's not small. What crevice do these Irmgerts pop up from once they feel ready baked? In what secret resort do you guys spend your youth!?

Can my fucked hands handle wood carving masks?

If I really want to make my hobby more ecological I got quite the journey ahead. 😬

Would rabbit skin glue be strong enough for my use cases? It's cheap enough that I'm willing to try it out eventually.

How much would I need to compress wool or hemp fluff that is sold as roof insulation to pad and shape up an articulated tail? Would I be willing and able to needlefelt it into shape?
Already compressed and sturdy wool felt plates are pricy, but maybe hurts less than hours of needlefelting?
Could I use the material in crafting masks, too?

For biodegradable faux fur I only found "biofluff", which sets itself up as italian fashion luxury and looks like it still hunts for investors rather than sell anything. Next best is just real fur.
Yeah. Wow. My head is smoking after digging for new more ecological materials that make sense for fursuit crafting, are easily accessible and affordable.

Cotton felt also exists. And wool felt. I wonder if I could also just layer this to cushion my tail into shape.

( I'm so glad I live in an age, where these things can be looked up and bought online. 100% natural latex foam wasn't even a thing before the 90s? )

Someone pointed out, that upholstery foam DOES have an ecological substitute: Natural latex foam.

I still have synthetic foam in stock that I will use up, but after that I'd love to switch to this material. Not cheap, but should be doable if I plan ahead.
