Perhaps in 20 years when the Fascists have taken complete control, and Fuhrer Trump has been sent to his well-earned retirement in a grave (this guy will never retire before he's not safely dead), the USA will become again a predicatable partner. The Chinese are at least open and honest about their authoritarianism, they don't go around claiming to be "land of the free".
Things like entire high speed trains and big factories can't be easily faked, you can look at the websites of the companies that make them or go on Google Earth and see them with your own eyes..
Whilst Western nations don't have overt censorship, their media still underreport "bad news" if advertisers moan about it and even in Europe a lot is hidden if you confine yourself to only reading in English (for instance I wouldn't be that aware of the relatively high level of fatal road traffic collisions in Germany and the constant wrangling about implementing a speed limit on motorways if I didn't read German)

Don't use bad AI (anything even smelling of closed systems like ChatGPT can go to a hot place), insist on reference for anything it claims etc. Basically, safe and sane “research assistant AI usage”.
And then, kick the AI buddy where it hurts, make it read the local language news. LLM are naturally polyglot and capable of rather subtle translations.
Yeah, I'm a #perplexity user, and it takes some consistent prompt reeducation to make its US centric world view go away (it has this ironic idea that local EU politics are best reported via politico.eu LOL, at least by default).
But after some exercises, it now knows that I like my news with a local touch.

China is already an authoritarian state that is involved in financing genocide and committing genocide itself.
The United States is only beginning to destroy its own institutions and violate basic human rights and freedom of speech. Americans do not defend democracy because they think that freedom is a given, not something that needs to be defended.

@ElGrossKotzo @Distante @VeryBadLlama Ah, the best POTUS of all time is the sole POTUS that you can convincingly emulate him with such a small LLM, that you can train it on a laptop. For whatever reason, it was important to our TA in Hands-on-AI I (or was it II, 🤷) to show us that at the end of the lesson on training small LLMs.
The confused, stumbling campaign speeches of the best POTUS of all time can be rather trivially emulated. Much harder to conserve Barack.

China beats America in every key sector besides military spending (but beats it in military output). It was America that flooded China with money.
