[P] It's an experiemce to have this intricate understanding of why a lemming does anything they might do, they're just like slylandro probes, though instead of having a 9999/100 priority for harvesting materials, it's focused on reward instead. It's why a lemming can't look at me like a person, I can see the wheels turning over how I might be farmed for reward. It overrides other proceses, even consciousness.

[P] The whole system of "fitting in" and going along with Dark Triad intent happens because the mechanisms of reward recognise this as a means to optimise and maximalise itself. In extreme cases though, empathy and other mechanisms can somewhat countermand reward, but it's a case-by-case basis. Sadly, all bets are off with Dark Triad monsters, there it's more akin to 99999999/100. They will kill for reward.

@wearywulf My motive to fit-in, is to avoid punishment. Fitting in has no reward for me, unless a lack of punishment is rewarding, which not feeling pain and shame kinda is rewarding.

I'm still unlearning the lemming ways, but as long as lemmings provide the food and the housing... I sadly have to obey somewhat, or I face excruciating pain once again.

@GreenRoc — [P] I'd call that fear and survival. A racist though has no such impetus, they don't need to "fit in" and raid a hotel of refugees. I say this is down to a pathological reward priority as it countermands other systems such as empathy, compassion, and even logic. Raciem is illogical as the greatest benefit is found in mutualism. Why does a soldier pull the trigger? Why does a football rioter loot? Why would a clinician use ECT/ICT/ABA? All examples of reward priority pathology.

@wearywulf I agree with you. "Self preservation" comes to mind.
