Tylenol in pregnancy doesn’t cause autism.

There isn’t an “epidemic of autism”.

Autism is not the fault of the mother or the child.

RFK Jr has not “cracked” autism.

Whatever they announce tomorrow, it won’t be based in science or truth.

It won’t help anyone.

Stay vigilant, follow the science and support the neurodivergent community.

For more on the “big autism announcement” and what it means for the disability community, check out my latest article.

I attempt to highlight the eugenicist intent behind their message while also appealing to the non disabled community to help fight for us: https://www.disabledginger.com/p/trumps-big-autism-announcement-and

Trump's Big Autism Announcement and What It Means for the Disability Community

The MAHA team came out swinging today against vaccines, Tylenol and more. Their big autism announcement was riddled with eugenicist language designed to blame and punish people for their disabilities.

The Disabled Ginger
@broadwaybabyto They are just gonna come up with one more excuse to oppress women.
@broadwaybabyto ”autism” isn’t new. It’s the rigidness and demands of society that keep increasing, pushing more and more of the natural neurodiversity outside the scope of ”normal”.
@broadwaybabyto Shit, that's tomorrow? Ugh.
Risk Factors for Autism Spectrum Disorder: What We Already Know From Scientific Evidence | Defend Public Health

With Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. promising to announce what he believes are the causes of autism this month, Defend Public Health is preemptively warning the public not to trust anything that he says on the subject without confirming with other sources. To arm the public with the facts, DPH has released a summary of what is known about the risk factors for autism spectrum disorder, including the extensive evidence that vaccines are not to blame.

@broadwaybabyto Yeah! If a scientific fact was a walnut RFK wouldn’t be able to crack it even if he dropped a 100,000 tonnes aircraft carrier on it, but the real issue of course is that he doesn’t care about what’s true or about people’s health
@broadwaybabyto If he weren't so dangerous, he'd be laughable.🤡
@Scienceisnotopinions @broadwaybabyto But he will get people killed. Lots if he isn't stopped.
@BruceMirken @broadwaybabyto I know, but he sounds so stupid. I can't believe anyone is taking him seriously. The thing I dislike is that he's fueling conspiracy theories, and we already have enough of that going on. His rhetoric is going to have a long-lasting effect on people.

@broadwaybabyto

RFK Jr and Trump are funded by fossil fuel interests determined to thwart scientific proof that fossil fuel pollution causes autism, dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases.

The six dynasties funding Project 2025 favor eugenics.
Bradley, Koch, Coors, Scaife Mellon, Seid & Uihlein.

They want "proof" that some type of personal choice is to blame. Things like being an immigrant or being black. Punishment for poverty

Autism May Be Caused by Air Pollution — Specifically, Car Exhaust, New Study Says

A new study says that exposure to vehicle emissions “can disrupt normal brain development.”

@Npars01 @broadwaybabyto

I encourage you to reconsider your framing of autisms as a “neurodegenerative disease".

@bifouba

Yeah. Perhaps "Autism, along with dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases" might have been better phrasing.

@bifouba @broadwaybabyto

Sorry, darn commas.

I meant that Alzheimers and dementia are neurodegenerative diseases possibly caused by fossil fuel pollution.

Autism is also possibly correlated to fossil fuel pollution.

@Npars01 @broadwaybabyto

That was the hope. And why you got a polite suggestion instead of premature outrage. 🙂

@Npars01 @broadwaybabyto You can add PFAS to that list

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2773049225000145

and a few other studies are all pointing to that being one of the things that combines with a strong genetic element.

@Npars01 @broadwaybabyto
I haven't looked at the studies and the evidence, so I am not sure. But I don't believe that autism or in general neurodivergence is caused by environmental factors or pollution. I think neurodivergency is part of human diversity, and not something new, but as old as homo sapiens.

I think research into the cause of autism (beside the ethical conserns), is very difficult. Particular, considering that diagnosis of autism is not uniform - that is the same person can be seen as autistic by some professional, while not by other professional. This is in addition to the fact that the likelihood that someone is going to see a professional, depend highly on factors like class, race, gender etc.

The thing that is new (regarding autism), is how we categories people and neurotypes, which is still something that is changing.

Also, over that last few hundreds years, there have been an increasing tendency to pressure people to fit into increasingly narrow norms of being. This makes it particular difficult for people differs the more from the norm (like neurodivergent people) and makes these people (us) stick more out.

I do however believe that pollution, including from fossil fuels, have a severe impact on a broad spectrum of health issues, including neurodegenerative conditions. Probably there are still many harms from pollution that are unknown.

@broadwaybabyto I thought its vaccines. Are vaccines safe now? Is both unsafe? Wormbrain will clarify all your questions with opinion.
Research doesn’t show using Tylenol during pregnancy causes autism. Here are 5 things to know

There’s no known single cause of autism.

PBS News
@broadwaybabyto
Yes, there is no “single cause” for “autism” , there are a lot of factors that could affect whether a kid gets autism or not… then there’s the better diagnosis & people being “more aware” of the spectrum! And for goodness sake people (not particularly those in this thread, you know who I mean) it is a “spectrum”! It’s not the end of the world if your kid has autism. People & society need to be more understanding.
@broadwaybabyto Also, there are just far more people in this world, and statistically anything that would be a small percentage of the population would look large to an
un-mathematical mind!
“But they are everywhere!” Yeah there’s a lot more of “them” because there’s a lot more people around.
(This can be said for a lot of different other “there’s so many of them” scenarios not just autism 😹 I for one don’t think autism or these “problems” are a problem imo, just let people live their lives)
@broadwaybabyto Yeah...these folks seem to have issues with cause and effect! Autism was identified long before tylenol came on the scene. A more likely candidate is maternal stress. Cortisol can pass from mother to fetus and has been documented to cause cognitive and behavioral issues. However, it's poorly studied (as is all of women's health!). Even if true (not claiming it is), it's NOT a women's FAULT. Strange how men like to blame women when men cause most of the world's problems!
@broadwaybabyto I've just now learned about RFK claiming he'd find the cause of autism in five months. If I'd heard about that I'd still be laughing (bitterly) now. How can people this utterly stupid be in charge?

@broadwaybabyto
>"RFK Jr has not “cracked” autism."

He has definitely not cracked autism, but he definitely IS cracked.

@broadwaybabyto
How derogatory is it to call him "little Bobby Tablets"?

@broadwaybabyto @wendynather Before Autism could be considered an epidemic one would first have to establish it’s a disease. I have to admit I nearly threw objects at the TV last night when that deplorable press secretary used EXACTLY that word too. Disease.

Now when I look at RFK I’m reminded of Mengele. Will they be allowed to torture us in the name of a “cure?”

@broadwaybabyto
Interestingly, now, genetic data reported suggests that this spectrum disorder has distinctive differences between people it shows up in as infants, Vs those in who it shows up years later.
So there are a couple of lines in that spectrum.
That's new, and that's based in science.
And suggests that so far as there are causes, there are causes of at least two sorts.
