The #TechWoven case feels a bit like the phone is wrapped in stiff jeans. It’s not a bad thing, but it’s definitely different than what I’m used to. I think its characteristics will make it a decent substitute for leather in that it’s smooth enough to slide in and it of your pocket easily, but the texture gives it enough grip that if you set it on on the arm of your couch it doesn’t just slide off with the first bump. #iPhone17Pro #iPhone17ProMax
Starting fresh with a new phone really makes you appreciate the apps and services that implemented #passkeys.
If you had to disable account security features with your mobile carrier to set up to a new iPhone or Watch today, be sure to turn them back on when you’re done. #iPhone17ProMax #iPhone17Pro #AppleWatch
I’m so pleased with the image quality on the 4x camera. In the past the telephoto was fine, but not amazing. You knew you were making sacrifices in exchange for a closer view or different framing. With the 17 Pro the trade-off is virtually gone. Just pick the camera you want and go. The result will be great no matter which one you use. (Of course it’s subject to the same limitations any long lens has around action and low light, but that comes with the territory.) #iPhone17Pro #iPhone17ProMax

@dmnelson did you start clean without restoring backup from iCloud or so?

I did that in the past, but this time just let iOS restore. It feels home really really fast + all the nice things you can now explore.

But yeah passkeys are really useful. #Strongbox was the first app I setup. Access credentials to the sync locations have not been restored.

@stefan Yeah I decided to do a fresh start without restoring from backup. Apple’s migration/restore process works great, no complaints about that. But I have sooo many apps and things I don’t need, I decided I’d rather start with nothing and only download when I need when I need it.
@dmnelson i sure do wish Slack would implement Passkeys. their auth flow sucks.
@cookie_lust Oh gosh yes. I hate how they always want to email me a secret login link even though I have a password ready to autofill.
@dmnelson @cookie_lust It is also partly outcome of the risk model: "Does this person still have access to their (work) email? If not, they might have been fired (so lets not let them in to the work chat)." 😓
@autiomaa @cookie_lust That’s a good point. I can see that as a benefit for environments that aren’t techie enough to put it behind SSO.
@dmnelson @autiomaa that wouldn’t protect against the employee setting up user/password, though. i can use user/password, but i never remember the workspace addresses. so it’s more flipping back and forth between Slack and my password manager than the dumb email link. just let me log into an email account with user/pass and select workspace[s] from there 😑
@dmnelson I think you have a typo in your alt text.
@dmnelson Easily the best color, imo.
