This is real. This is the actual letter, republican speaker Mike Johnson has sent to the Biden administration saying, he will not send aid to Ukraine, before the funds run out at New Years, unless Joe Biden magically solves the problems of illegal immigration and Mexican drug cartels.
These are problems which have existed for decades — under Reagan even. Now he wants them solved before Christmas, or there will be no aid.
The entire Kremlin must be laughing and dancing in celebration.

Even if Biden would fix all of these problems Johnson still wouldn't send the money because he's a russian asset.
We in Europe must keep that in mind and don't do any business or deals with republicans. We must treat them as agents of the Kremlin that might betray us at any time. Like Johnson is betraying Ukraine.
@Rastal the GDP of the Ukraine allies is 32 times the GDP of Russia (measured before Russia’s economy was ruined by the war).
To a reasonable extent, that GDP also reflects the production capacity of those allies.
We may be reluctant to turn our factories into weapons factories, but rest assured, if it becomes necessary to do so, we will, and Putin will be outgunned completely.

@randahl The US government has been trying to find a compromise on immigration reform for at least 25 years without success regardless of who group of idiots holds the majority at the moment.
Johnson is a scary dude with a majority so slim that he's basically hamstrung on almost every issue. He's not going to get what he wants, but he's going to cause a lot of suffering while he tries.

The only way to end immigration is by not employing illegal immigrants.
The only way that happens is when you *imprison* employers profiting off illegal immigrants.
That is not going to happen.
Jake Broe was spot on. The US has illegal immigration, because employees offer work to illegal immigrants, thereby keeping prices down in the farming sector.
@randahl I have a solution. Remove the Republicans from office so we can start solving actual problems. Very simple. You just check the box on the paper that doesn't have an R next to it.
But seriously. It's not enough to vote, you also have to do a bit of research. Some Republicans are running as nonpartisan to trick people.
