Here's a cynical thought...

Given Wes Streeting is Keir Starner's most likely challenger for the job of PM, it would seem to be in Starmer's interest to make sure Streeting's time at the Dept. of Health is far from successful;

so, in personal political terms its in Starmer's interest to obstruct any workable reform that Streeting comes up with but allow him to introduce policies that would (likely), in the short-term, at least compound the crisis....

Just sayin'

#politics #health

@ChrisMayLA6 but surely that kind of thing could never happen here. Not in this country. Not in these enlightened times.

@ChrisMayLA6 I'd say that was the optimistic thought, because it is predicated with the notion that Streeting would come out with a workable reform in the first place.

Maybe I'm too cynical...

@ChrisMayLA6

Not sure if this is true but it would explain the bringing in of '#alanmilburn as an adviser to Streeting!

@ChrisMayLA6 But that requires Starmer to have a strategy other than "I wanna be a tool PM", and we've all witnessed that Starmer is as strategic as a wet sandwich

@ChrisMayLA6 Does #Starmer even need to bother sabotaging Wes?

#Streeting has the necessary ambition and obnoxiousness, and the #neoliberal zeal. But Leanne Mohamad killed Streeting's chances of the leadership.

Who wants a party leader that will have to spend most of their campaigning time trying to save their own seat? Who wants a leader whose chances of holding his seat are vanishingly slim?

@2legged @ChrisMayLA6 She had a lot of support when she came to our We Own It NHS demo just before the election.
