Reporter Suspended After Question About Charlie Kirk Enrages MAGA Congressman

"I am repulsed that you would even think to ask," the Florida Republican told the journalist.

HuffPost
@w7voa Oh give this cynical fuck his Emmy already

@w7voa that seemed like a fairly relevant question to ask to me. I hope another newsroom picks up this quality reporter.

If Randy Fine doesn’t want to be asked uncomfortable questions he should exit public life

@w7voa The "empathy is toxic" people didn't mean empathy for *them* heavens no
@w7voa Reading the piece, it seems it wasn't the Q that prompted his dismissal, but the fact he texted it to the congressperson just 23 minutes after the shooting. “I cannot be the person I am, a critic of extremism on both the left and right, if those who work with me lack the basic empathy in horrific situations,” Schorsch wrote on X. “Perhaps other outlets can go immediately to the political ramifications of a tragedy like the shooting of a cultural leader, but that is not what I am about.”

@JamesWNeal @w7voa
Ah yes, the Period of Mourning, during which difficult questions may not be asked of politicians. It lasts from the time of incident until the question can be dismissed for referring to irrelevant ancient history instead 🙄

Randy Fine didn't lose a family member FFS, and nothing justifies his response nor the punishment of the journalist. It's the fascist silencing of someone who isn't kissing ass to the tyrants' satisfaction.

@me_valentijn @w7voa I'm not suggesting his firing was justified, just making it clear that the justification given had nothing to do with the question asked, just the timing of it.
@JamesWNeal @me_valentijn @w7voa I don’t believe that for a minute. He could have asked it today and gotten the same response. The fact that he never answered the question says it was 100% about the question. If it were just about the timing he would have answered after the appropriate mourning period had passed.
@JamesWNeal @w7voa It wasn't the question, it was the obvious answer that Fine obviously didn't want to give, so he obviously attacked the reporter instead, and successfully diverted the conversation away from it.
@w7voa He doesn't deserve to be fired. What he said is true.
@w7voa HuffinSome Farts has bent over.
@w7voa what I heard sounded like he was making objective points, certainly wasn't anything bordering on celebratory.
@w7voa lame, Dowd was just speaking God's own truth. Conservatives are that ITYSL hot dog costume meme — "We're all trying to find the guy who suddenly cranked the temperature level up on violent rhetoric at some point!"

I recommend to my U.S. friends to read up on how Goebbels used the death of Horst Wessel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horst_Wessel

@w7voa
Apparently it's mandatory to only tell nice lies about hateful and dangerous fascists once they're dead? 🤷‍♀️
@w7voa Fired for being a journalist. Can't have that on MSNBC.
@w7voa
Why should he have gotten fired? He was completely right.
@w7voa There is zero wrong with the statement that Kirk brought this on himself with his violent rhetoric. That’s not condoning violence, that’s simply fact. Shame on MSNBC. Truth is getting murdered today as well as poor Kirk.

@w7voa Mr Dowd was not wrong, and journalists should not be fired for speaking plain truth. Mr Kirk had no problem advocating violence -- State violence -- against minorities, the marginalized, and economic immigrants. Mr Kirk advocated for State control over women's reproductive rights. Mr Kirk saw a certain level of gun violence in the civil population as an acceptable price to pay, in order to maintain 2nd Amendment freedoms.

Those who advocate for violence against others -- especially State violence -- should not be at all surprised when that same violence is visited upon themselves.

@w7voa A reporter is supposed to report the truth. What he said is what this person has done and said and tried to inspire others to do. Dowd did not try to drool sugar coating over this event in order to camouflage the facts in grief: we leave that to politicians, who evidently are selective about who they do that for.
@w7voa whom sows the seeds of winds shall harvest the bloomings of tornadoes
@w7voa But Mr. Dowd was right.
Whoever sows hatred reaps hatred. 🤷‍♂️

@w7voa Oops, committed the cardinal sin of "Getting too real on camera."

Can't have that in your infotainment media.

I never heard about this Kirk before, so I cannot judge whether the statement made about him is true or not.

If the statement is factually true, could it have been phrased in a more diplomatic way? I don’t see anything in Dowd’s statement encouraging violence, in fact he said that it’s unfortunate that it has come to this.

@w7voa
Dowd's exact words: “He’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in..."

@w7voa "...You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in.”

He's literally just laying out the exact path that lead to Kirk's (deserved) shooting. And given Kirk's background of supporting and fostering violent rhetoric, Dowd was spitting facts and the Micropenis Scrote-sniffing Nut-licking Ball-juggling Cockmuncher network sacked him anyway. #FuckMSNBC

@w7voa Micropenis Scrote-sniffing Nut-licking Ball-juggling Cockmuncher network has bent over.
@w7voa wasn't he just quoting the holy word of these people who claims to be christians? Doesn't their holy book say something like: live by the sword, die by the sword
@w7voa Whom sows the seeds of winds harvests the crops of hurricanes.
@w7voa If it was run like FOX NEWS there'd be a bonus instead.

@w7voa I mean, I guess he should have known better than to be forthright when asked a direct question on a topic it is his job to provide informed comments on.

This is the inevitable outcome of not calling out the pearl clutching every time someone “speaks ill” of someone who has died for any reason. Not to mention letting all manner of other ridiculous reactions to reality go unchallenged.

@w7voa Fired for for speaking his opinion - which happens to also be true. Is that MSNBC or Fox? Did they hire Goebbels while I wasn't looking?
