I've seen this theory floated a few times — but no.

1. With the timescale of iPhone-production planning, these colors were probably selected before the 2024 US presidential election.

2. Trump would hate any association with orange. That's something his haters say, not him or his fans. (Gold or red would appeal to him more.)

3. Don't let him own this color association! Orange was cool long before these assholes were alive, and it'll be cool long after they're dead.

@marcoarment Exactly. Trump likely pictures himself looking deeply tanned, not like an orange bronzer raccoon.

Nothing short of solid, real, polished gold would impress him on an iPhone. As he likes reminding people, he can tell the difference from the fake stuff!

And yes, orange is still cool.

@marcoarment If I remember correctly, brown is a shade of orange. Coffee, after roasting and other preparation, is brown. Coffee is good. Ergo, orange is good.

@marcoarment I have been begging for more orange electronics for literally decades, it's long been cast aside and deserves a chance to shine its warmth on humanity. It is not orange's fault it was co-opted by a tyrant.

@marcoarment @JasonAnthonyGuy Yeah, it’s almost certainly completely unrelated, but I am not above using it to highlight Tim Cook’s craven obsequiousness to Trump.

That needs to become part of his legacy. If it means besmirching what is (IMHO) not even a particularly appealing color, so be it.

I’m just glad Trump isn’t associated with blue.
