@_Davidsmith Hi, love your pedometer app and have been for at least a decade. The watch app update is great and the maps during walks are a great quality of life improvement. I do have a low priority feature request. Would it be possible to show the singular of “floors” when I have done only one? NL is a flat country. 😀
If you send me an email that says “action required” in the subject, and it turns out that no, there is not any action required, what are we even doing?

Apple’s fallen hopelessly behind in AI.

Turns out Apple has also fallen behind in satellites, cardiology, extractive metallurgy, screenwriting and even the culinary arts despite its own name. Shame.

Things are really popping off in Devizes
A.I. musicians are COOKED. I just recorded an ENTIRE SONG using nothing but my instruments and a few microphones. This would have cost upwards of hundreds of dollars in expensive A.I. subscription fees but for me it was completely FREE. Don't get left behind. This is the future!

Really excited about this one: A new game show I devised that attempts to mix NYT-style Connections with a word game, on a podcast!

Car Boot Salad (Game Show 276)

Welcome to Missed Connections, a new-ish game with some familiar twists, in which two pairs of contestants try to guess words and then find the hidden bonds that connect them together. Lex will always tell you when he knows the answer, but unfortunately for him, the players still have to take turns.

OK nevermind, THIS is the coolest thing I’ve ever done to my iPhone

F**k content, make ART.

Consider this my unwavering stance for 2026.

Full stop.

With all the posts on various social platforms about ditching Spotify for musically greener pastures, this Substack article gives us a lot to chew on, particularly music discovery outside of the algorithm's influence, offline listening, owning music files rather than streaming, and lots more.

As an analog child dragged kicking and screaming into an increasingly digital world, this article warms my heart. A number of great points made in this one.

Why 2026 Might Be the Year We Take Music Back

From a panel in the museum for natural history in Milan. Likens cars to Lions because “a zebra is as likely to get killed by a lion as a city dweller is to be killed by a car” 😀.
