bad idea: a bot to alert you when monitored wikipedia pages change for "is" to "was"
@foone what about a bot to alert you about the other way around, to know when we're so back?
@katt @foone we should also be watching for is → isn't
@foone Or when the em-dash (19xx—) gets replaced with an en-dash (19xx–2025), a process from which the euphemism “emenation” comes
@acb @foone I actually had a business idea to set up obituary alerts for old people who hate a bunch of other old people.
I am making the HIM "I should call her" bot please things one by one
Death Generator Competition Detector?
@foone i actually did think of this as a discord bot command a while back, except as an explicit checking thing instead of a daemon model

i wonder if wikipedia has a proper api or if this would require html scraping
@alterae @foone there's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Syndication to give you a RSS feed for changes (which is presumably a lot more polite than polling the main page and looking for changes)
