Given the delightfully-dorky and neurospicy nature of the fediverse, along with the fact that we went to a selective grammar school, we're honestly surprised that we still haven't yet bumped into anybody from our year group online here  

Then again, we did go to a school that mistakenly thought it was teaching solely boys 😂

Might have to go hunting for a few at some point, partly to see how they're all doing, but mostly also to confuse the heck out of others 🤭

At least a couple would probably be like: "OH! That explains a few things!" 🤣

Our year group was very... memorable... to say the least 😅

  • Someone (not us) once recorded the number of times a teacher said "maintenant" in French classes. It was labelled the maintenant-meter (maintenometer). Apparently it peaked on Wednesdays.
  • The head of IT locked our PC rooms on the final day of our year, after discovering the non-malicious hacking plans.
  • Our head boy was openly gay... whilst Section 28 was still in force.

But yeah, if you were in an Essex grammar school "for boys" sometime between 1995 and 2002, there's a chance you might know us

@SleepyCatten I too am a product of an all boys (their error) Essex Grammar School and still a member of the Old Boys alumni. I've attended one social and also haven't come into anyone from the same year yet. I was there 1977-1984 ... 41 years ago

I hid in that school, socially speaking, as I fitted in with the rest of the nerds (plenty of them). I had been bullied by a group of girls at primary school and would have been a very different person had I gone to the local comprehensive. Over 30 years after leaving primary school one of those girls saw me and apologised.
