Does anyone have a Linux 101 website they can point me to?

I'm muddling through, following steps on blogs or forums when I run into an issue. But I don't feel like I really *get* it.

For example navigating the file system in the terminal, and basic terminal commands, stuff like that.

Running pop os which is based on Ubuntu (I think).

#linux #OpenSource

@MsHearthWitch that depends.

I do know there's like @askubuntu for @ubuntu

There's no "definitive" Linux how-to site, unless you consider #mapages readers like https://linux.die.net but it certainly that's not wuat you were looking for.

  • I do recommend to play in a VM cuz depending on your use case and workflow it's less of a "click" and more of a "dawns on you" kinda moment.
Linux Documentation

@MsHearthWitch I wish I had anything, but what I have done is look up the operation I want with the distro name in quotes.

@MsHearthWitch One of my go-to things is the O'Reilly Linux Pocket Guide. Also useful is Ten Steps to Linux Survival (also O'Reilly.) I got both of these through Humble Bundles (several years back).

They've got a free trial, which might be helpful linked under the pocket guide page...

O’Reilly Online Learning

@MsHearthWitch

I did this free course after I already knew about the commands. The way they teach you, makes you understand the use case of each command. Really good for beginners. Also, there is no need for looking things up or using and a LLM(please don’t learn using LLMs) as every command has a help page you can see using <command> --help or man <command>. If you need any help then you can also contact me <3

EDIT: wops, didn’t see you had pop os installed

@violetpixel I find your warning against using LLMs kinda weird. Of fucking course I'm not using LLMs...
