There's got to be a way to just make them stupid.
I can't believe they're running anything other than a Linux kernel under the hood
@johntimaeus @Rastal It all depends on whether a decent driver(s) for all the hardware bits can be obtained, or made.
Those things tend to be pretty locked down, not very hacker-friendly.
Yep, discovered it wasn't bad batteries or remotes, but our 2 yesr old smart TV infrared sensor failing at anything past 5 inches. Figured this out because Bluetooth worked from my phone. I need one part, not a new television.
@Rastal best I can do now is deny it access to the Internet entirely, which I did.
Anyone working on Tesla's battery pack control software? That's what I want open sourced. I want to have a mechanic shop that specializes in buying cheap Teslas, guts them, and uses the guts to power converted classic cars. At night part of it is a rage room where you get to safely bash whatever is left of those cars before they are recycled.
I agree, @Rastal. At #SFC we continue the #Vizio case <https://sfc.ngo/vizio/> to yield that outcome.
SFC's earlier case <https://sfconservancy.org/copyleft-compliance/past-lawsuits.html#best-buy-et-al> vs.#Samsung yielded SamyGo <https://www.samygo.tv/>, but sadly only works only on TV models subject to that lawsuit.
This impact litigation is part of our long-term strategic plan for alt. firmwares (ala #OpenWrt) for many devices:
