it's supposed to enable passkey support without google play services, for example on @GrapheneOS
GrapheneOS@xyhhx @S1m It works well on GrapheneOS and is the only hardware-based passkey provider we've seen beyond Google Play services. Most of the passkey implementations included as part of password managers including Proton Pass use software-based passkeys. It would be nice if those at least added support for using the device's secure element for hardware-based passkeys even if they don't add security key support.
