/3 aside: WAY back (decades) I visited this small park (York Redoubt) on occasion. Open to public/unstaffed. Observation tower had charming, fully functioning (1800's?) brass telescope w. all the gears etc. to mechanically move it to survey (e.g.) the mouth to Halifax Harbour. Part of enemy ship location plotting?
I was disheartened, later visit to see that apparatus vandalized.
