I noticed this scary mix of connectors on the table, after cleaning up the mess of yesterday's work on an electronics project. BNCs, DuPonts, RCA, PS/2, USB, etc.

These screw terminals are quite useful when using a breadboard.

(But not perfect for fast signals, of course…)

@RueNahcMohr When I've got idea to make some more usable connection of scope to a breadboard, I've originally wanted to buy a thin BNC cable and split it. But I failed to find any thin enough.

So I then found BNC to RCA adaptors in a “computer cable shop” 😝 (www.krup.cz) ~50 m from the #base48 hackerspace. So I made ~70cm RCA to DuPont cable and bought the adaptor. It worked very well.

They sell this adaptor with gender of both sides swapped and even BNC to F-connector.

@jwo So, I started with the BNC->RCA thing and it turned out to TOO HORRID (signal integrity wise) even for _me_. I bought some thin BNC cables and modified them for breadboard use, first putting a straight end on them, but later upgrading to this side entry (0.4" apart is enough to go from ground to a row) which holds in better and does not break the center conductor as easily. Capacitance is an issue.
@jwo OMG, maybe this is what I needed... lower frequency again, but yea, often I don't care...

@RueNahcMohr The cinch-based approach was good enough to assure myself that the (output) clock from my MCU is really 8 MHz. It did have a little bit rounder raising edge, but it was still clearly a square wave. Even with 70cm cable and RCA-to-BNC adaptor.

@RueNahcMohr Later on, @havy decided to buy more of the BNC-to-RCA adaptors for the scope, but in another shop (gme.cz). I browsed the e-shop and noticed they have even better adaptors from BNC: to screw terminal and to banana plugs usable as a screw terminal, too. The second one has a neat hole for holding a wire.

So my bf (@havy) bought some. Btw, all photos in this thread are taken on his phone.

@jwo @havy I like how compact the other ones are tho. I have some of the large ones.
@jwo they are! i have a handful of em myself at my workdesk.
@jwo they are available as cinch and jack as well btw
