The last few weeks went into project Nr. 0005: 電力番長 (Denryoku Bancho), my Linux-native fork path for the MightyWatt electronic load.

Main reason: Finally wanted this thing to live where I want it: In my Linux lab environment instead of in a virtual Windows side corner so I can better integrate. It also fits well with restarting my electronics hobby & reshaping my lab.

So the cli part of the project is now at beta 0.1. It basically works, but it still needs heavy testing and improve over the next few weeks. Maybe a GUI will follow later.

I changed a few things after taking this pic but I have a 555 working to control the 358 now. Did two hours of bottom prep hair removal with it last night.

instead of an adjustable voltage knob I put a reset button in the middle. If I could find a way to make a 555 oneshot be trigger toggled back to off that would be more ideal.

Rokoko is so tempting. But the results I see are still quite imprecise. The Coil Pro solves that quite well, but that's $3000 extra, not included in any bundles 😅

Any motion capture gurus on here that have tried DIY motion capture, like setting up multiple cameras and tracked in Blender? How have those workflows been for you?

I've got an old Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge that, unfortunately, has a locked bootloader (it's a Verizon). Are there still any fun projects I can do with it so it doesn't end up in a landfill? #diy_electronics

I need some suggestions. I had the Kosmos X1000 series of electronics experiment kits as a kid. There's a 10 year old that might like something along these lines. Trouble is: the modern experiment boxes are really naff. They are really limited, big parts catering to limited motor skills, with experiments I did in elementary school (mostly) with wires tacked onto literal bread boards (wooden cutting boards).

Any suggestions (no soldering) for today?
