Is this art? Is this a protest? Is this plain vandalism? Difficult to say in these times.
@filiplachert i think that the answer you're looking for is "warsaw on monday"

@filiplachert
possibly unpopular hot take: i think that dunking on #microtransport, as long as cars exist, promotes #motornormativity.

#escooters being dangerous or taking up space or being wasteful or whatever: cars are like that, except 1000 Γ— more.

it's like carnists heckling vegans for eating avocados.

@pelle @filiplachert Polish media is manufacturing consent recently, pushing news about people on scooters wrecking themselves, we might end up with licensing requirements like they did with motorcycles
@pelle @filiplachert I see more rental e-bikes than cars blocking sidewalks and bicycle paths around here. People truly do not give a shit where they park those things. I've half a mind to start moving them into the street, when I find one that needs moving.
@barometz "more rental e-bikes than cars blocking sidewalks" πŸ‘ˆ which would be a non-issue if cars weren't blocking 90% of all city streets with operation and storage. #motornormativity
@pelle sure, motornormativity
@barometz super dangerous bikes taking up all the space lol
@pelle I never said that car culture doesn't suck! I just think that holding back on criticism of rental scooters and bikes is a mistake. The companies don't give a shit because they make money, and the users don't give a shit because it's not their bike.
@barometz
can you describe more in detail what upsets you about this situation?
@pelle this is near a building with a lot of elderly folks who use various mobility aids. There's a large paved area forty meters ahead with plenty of space.
@barometz
are you upset at the people using mobility aids?
@pelle no, at the people making them cross the curb (which is a hassle for them) and get into the bicycle lane (which is annoying for me).
@barometz
so you're annoyed when the elderly folks on their mobility aids get in your way?

@pelle if you're able to express a complete thought, rather than this tedious socratic approach, please do.

In each of those pictures, the vehicles could have been parked in a way that leaves them accessible and doesn't block a sidewalk, emergency exit, or public AED for anyone.

@barometz
thanks for perfectly illustrating the point i was trying to make πŸ‘Œ
@pelle I don't understand what point that is? If you're talking about the ability to park with consideration for other road users, does that contradict anything I've said?

@barometz
like, complaining how e-scooters are dangerous because you've seen one that's parked near an AED.

how many people are crushed by cars per year in the city you live in?

@pelle okay, so the statement I originally objected to was

"i think that dunking on microtransport, as long as cars exist, promotes motornormativity."

I see how you got from my objection to "e-scooters are dangerous" but that's not what I meant. What I mean is this: no one should park like a fucking asshole. I don't see non-rentals parked like this nearly as much, so the category is relevant.

@barometz
the thing is, the amount of being "a fucking asshole", by driving and parking a car, legally, is so disproportionately greater than what those parked bikes are doing.

but people are much more willing to put up with assholery from cars. that's the #motornormativity. there's interesting studies exploring that unconcious bias.

@pelle @barometz I'm not sure an AI generated image of a traffic jam is the right way to make your point, even if the point is valid.

Edit: Or heavily altered, or both, whatever.
@filiplachert IMHO it's mostly "cleaning up the trash". Also - today I've read traffic rules for both bicycles and electric kickbikes in Norway. It was interesting to learn that in general electric kickbikes are considered in traffic law as bicycles. (Unless I misremember it after few hours of work between when I've read it and now.)
@miiamustang πŸ˜‚ my favourite answer to this type of question :)
@filiplachert at this point I would say plain vandalism, because it does not improve the situation in any way, just makes it worse for others
@filiplachert I think it needs to be watered a couple of times per week to grow into a big scooter tree
@filiplachert well, it got the bus stop poster lady's attention

@filiplachert

It is a solution to a problem. It was in the way, now it isn't....

@filiplachert "I TOLD you to stop riding that damned thing and do your homework!"
@filiplachert someone made that scooter. im sure someone will take it anyways
@filiplachert
Yes, but no. Free him and Charge it. It was the fossil Lobby.
@filiplachert it's art, disguised as vandalism, while acting like a protest against the oligarchy.

@filiplachert

I think it is beautiful...

@filiplachert I would argue that by virtue of posing this question, it becomes art.
@filiplachert
I don't know, but it's appropriate

@filiplachert

Yes to all, thats these times for ya
