Recently had a new carpet fitted by a professional carpet fitter. I took all of the off cuts back that the carpenter was going to throw away. Am I ever going to need or use them? Probably not. But the carpet guy can fuck off if he thinks he's having them for free. I paid for it.
@fesshole this is how my parents have ended up with a shed full of pepto-bismol pink carpet that they’ve tried to offload on everyone they can think of for 20 years. That’s what I call winning!
@fesshole bits of offcut carpet work well in patch jobs too.

@fesshole So… now you will have to pay to get rid of it, instead of letting him do it for you?

But alright, it's good to have (a bit) to spare if you need it.

@fesshole always useful as a bit of insulation when fettling things outside in the cooler months.
@fesshole carpenters don’t fit carpets.
@fesshole he was going to pay to dispose of them. You did him a massive favour.
@fesshole
Good job you! Now you have a shed full of bits of carpet having recovered the waste of no value and saved the fitter a $100 or more in disposal costs. Are you an economist?
@fesshole pretty much any tradesperson will leave as much waste behind as they can unless you’re paying to dispose of anyway!
