Friends of type, please, what is in your opinion the most 60s typeface you can think of? Like it just screams the sixties decade to you!
@fhardwig Tysm! Just so you know, I get a 503 error with this link :)
@daytonamess It’s a valid link, but I think that some Mastodon clients sadly choke on the included special characters. Can you copy and paste into your browser’s address bar?
It points to an advanced search for uses of the mentioned typefaces that were made in the 1960s.
@fhardwig @daytonamess Same here, tried three mobile browsers. Safari, Vivaldi and FireFox. All lead to 503

@eWalthert Yes, sorry. You have to be signed in to access links with query strings, see Anirban’s reply: https://mastodon.social/@mitradranirban@typo.social/114835343723202460

I forgot that we had to start blocking such requests in response to persistent abuse through harvesting bots.

@fhardwig @eWalthert So ~that’s~ the reason!

Searching Fontsinuse directly via the browser address bar via the browser search bar has been broken for quite some time.

Annoying, especially if you’ve been used to it for years—but you seem to have good reasons for blocking these requests (unfortunately).

@jla @fhardwig @eWalthert Yeah, it’s a bummer. But as long as you’re logged in to Fonts In Use it works from anywhere.
@jla “has been broken for quite some time”
Why not file a bug report? 😉
@FontsInUse I thought something was broken with my browser (or browser plugins). Never got the idea that it was something FIU could take care of.

@jla @daytonamess @eWalthert @mitradranirban We made some technical changes: it’s now possible again to visit search links without being signed into your Fonts In Use account! 🎊

Try for yourself with the one that @fhardwig posted last week:

@FontsInUse @daytonamess @eWalthert @mitradranirban @fhardwig Finally! My beloved browser search bar will once again be thrusting into unknown galaxies of Fonts. Thanks, FIU team.
