My son's former girlfriend reached out to me today. I hear from his friends periodically. I figured they might drift away as time goes by. He has been gone almost ten years now, and they haven't.
I think because his friends would ask him for advice, or if they needed help, he would often say he would ask his mom. Especially if the ask was beyond him. He was a really good friend to his friends.
Now, I occasionally get questions sometimes framed as what I think my son would've said.
Now, I can offer Summer. I say she does her best to give good advice. So far it's working.
Now, is a hard time for young people to know where to turn.
Summer is as good a choice as many and she is free. Sometimes she advises them to turn to a professional. Sometimes it's an easy fix. If we can help we do.
I might get her a shingle to hang out in front.
Happy Thursday, Mastodon friends.

Does she provide boops for free? Sometimes, all we need is a boop.
@amyedge
Sometimes just assuring them that difficult times give way to better times usually in my experience is all they want to hear.
@amyedge
Summer loves everyone and will provide cuddles on request.
@NorcalGma2 Oh my heart. Thank you for sharing this, and thank you and Summer for all you do.
@StaceyCornelius @NorcalGma2 I came here to say this. Thank you.
@StaceyCornelius @NorcalGma2 I'd love to have an important conversation with you Queen ♥️ if you don't mind
@NorcalGma2 oh God I had no idea, I'm so sorry
@NorcalGma2 A girl I dated in high school used to have long phone conversations with my mom. After we broke up, neither of them saw any reason to stop those conversations. They ended up staying together much longer than she and I did 😀
@NorcalGma2 hiw wonderful for you all to keep the heart in your connection. Summer is wise beyond her years❣️
@NorcalGma2 Summer is a very sweet and helpful girl, and you are awesome helping out the way you do. ❤️

@serpicojam What happened? I can't see the post.

Nothing new. My son passed away almost ten years ago from an undiagnosed heart condition. It was unexpected.
I miss him everyday.

@NorcalGma2 I'm sorry for your loss. 💔

@serpicojam

@NorcalGma2 @janerationx @serpicojam So sad, I'm sorry and sending warm thoughts.

@NorcalGma2

How good Summer is to help people! She's a good reminder that sometimes simple answers are best.

@NorcalGma2 we as humans are very lucky to have dogs as our best friends. I sometimes work from home and I talk to our dog like he's a good friend, asking what he thinks of x, y or z. I like to think he replies occasionally.
@NorcalGma2
I read this with a mixture of sadness and optimism. You give me hope.
@NorcalGma2 you and Summer put a lot of good energy in the world, thank you💛 I'm sorry to hear about your son. I hope it feels peaceful to remember him with others who love him, I know that always helps me.
@TheresaReason
Thank you for your kind words.

@NorcalGma2 My first wife passed away many years ago, but her parents were such good people that I kept in touch. That led to an etiquette quandary one day: What’s the correct way to introduce your fiancée to your mother-in-law?
@Virginicus
I actually attended her wedding and baby shower. She is such a lovely person I hope we always stay in touch.
