@ChrisMayLA6 @sjwrenlewis Really? The supposed "U-turn" on #disability #benefits is just a tactical retreat until Timms delivers his Review, & the cut to the health element of UC is going ahead. Furthermore, the Govt. plan to cut the legal entitlement of #disabled #children to #SEND #education. Starmer has reiterated his opposition to a #wealth tax. There's plenty of money for nuclear warheads, though!

yes, SWL's point is really that they need to be thinking about how to balance tax & borrowing better & then to also make the case for higher rates of taxation, if they are going to retain (lower) borrowing... its a Q. of political leadership on running a 'proper' welfare state

Ah, i see the problem here.
The presumption that they are capable of 'better management'.

Any attempt at management is going to fail if it is based on dogma rather than facts and practicalities, let alone the actual abilities of the people involved.
