Folks who use MS Office on Linux through Crossover: which version of Office is most functional? 2016?

It has to be a standalone, not cloud-based version of Office for confidentiality purposes. Am I correct that 2016 is the newest, best option for use in Crossover?

I have no problem paying, I just need the version that works best.

Before you all chime in: yes, LibreOffice is great. I would use it if I didn't have to collaborate with Office users, but I do.

I still don’t understand how to do a lot of things in Linux but I’m willing to learn. Command lines just seem weird and not intuitive after all these years of Windows. Mint does a good job of minimizing that so far.

Give LibreOffice a try. Writer and Calc are great alternatives to MS Office, and can easily open and edit old and Modern MS Word files.
I have never used MS on my Linux boxes, and never had any issues. @libreoffice makes a great product. Congtats on making the switch! It's a process, and you can learn it. There are plenty of good people to help, and d excellent documentation, out there. #LinuxMint is a great distro.

@jeffcodes @D_J_Nathanson @libreoffice I just switched over to LibreOffice last year, and haven't had any need to do anything in Microsoft Office. I don't think you need Office at all, really.
@ai6yr @D_J_Nathanson @libreoffice
Absolutely agree. What's great about LibreOffice is how familiar it is. The learning curve is quite flat.
@ai6yr @jeffcodes @libreoffice If you look further up in the thread, you’ll see that I agree that LibreOffice is a good program. For collaboration reasons, I need Office.
@D_J_Nathanson @jeffcodes @libreoffice Ah, bummer. Hope the Crossover works then!

I did see that, and should have been clearer, or started with this question:
What kind of collaboration? I've passed Word docs back and forth with MS people, including with tracked changes, with minimal issues. It had been a minute, so maybe remembering inaccurately.
@D_J_Nathanson @ai6yr @libreoffice
That said, if you need it, you need it. No judgement here.
@jeffcodes @ai6yr @libreoffice As I said, formatting and fonts are extremely specific in my work. That’s the hitch. They don’t translate 1:1 and I can’t have that.
@D_J_Nathanson @jeffcodes @libreoffice Ah, yeah, that is for sure. Understood.
@D_J_Nathanson @ai6yr @libreoffice
Fair enough. Legal briefs and all. Makes me think if the lady at Purdue who had to approve the formatting of my thesis. That was an experience. No way I could have gotten away with anything but Word. Though, that was nearly 20 years ago, and even MS on my MacBook Pro caused issues.
