Horrible and yet unsurprising. Unfortunately

Starmer says bodies must ban trans people from single-sex spaces ‘as soon as possible’

Keir Starmer has ordered that public bodies to enforce the Supreme Court's controversial gender ruling "as soon as possible".

For some reason, some people feel compelled to reply to this to defend an unjust law.

It's a bit like replying to a post in 2010 on how gay marriage was illegal in the UK with a comment saying that actually gays could marry, just had to marry people of the opposite sex...

...which, unfortunately, was a thing that happened regularly back then.

@baldur What an execrable twat he is. You are correct, this law is unjust and immoral. Everyone associated with its passing and implementation should be ashamed. A pox on all their houses.
@Baldur Bjarnason
To declare as "unjust" a law to clarify a simple fact biological sex ≠ sociological gender is a strange logic.
@baldur The emergency is ... ?
@Baldur Bjarnason
Horrible
If girls' rights are "horrible", that is a problem

@citc
No girls rights are being defended here. Nothing is being improved for women with this. All it does is make life more unsafe for trans people.
You want to make bathroom stalls great for women? Make fully closed stalls with a sink inside. Periods are messy, my friend. And look, now it's great for everyone.
But that's not what this debate is about. It's about punishing people born male who reject this privilege, because that questions the system. Notice how trans-men are never mentioned?

@rlcw @citc "people born male who reject this privilege, because that questions the system"
I have thought about the origin of this (explicitly trans woman) hate, and i think its much simpler than that.

Men see pretty woman, men want to fuck and not be embarrased by a penis surprise.

I think thats it. Only exactly that.

Because women only exist for men, and every woman is property of a man or free to be owned.

As simple as it is disgusting.

@baldur one aspect that particularly frustrates me is that the Supreme Court ruling does not at all say that this is necessary. He’s either misunderstood it or is intentionally misinterpreting it to push an anti-trans agenda and I can’t decide which is worse.
@benjamineskola Yeah. I mean, considering his background, I'm leaning towards it being intentional.
@baldur yes. It’s supposed to be better to presume incompetence rather than malice, but incompetence doesn’t seem entirely plausible.
@benjamineskola @baldur Those in power don't care about culture wars. It's only ever a dead cat, in this case to distract the public from his complicity in genocide.

@woe2you @baldur I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I think someone can quite easily be a virulent bigot in more than one way at the same time.

(But I also think it’s possible that he doesn’t particularly care about the issue himself but thinks that being “tough” in this regard will win him votes with “ordinary people”.)
