I am so angry and disappointed at all the left- and center-wing commentators who bought into the right-wing framing of "parent's rights" as being more important than children's rights.

Like, I'm sorry, but parents have *responsibilities to* kids, not *rights over* kids. Kids aren't property, they're living, breathing *people* who deserve care and love and privacy and dignity.

A hard ban on LLM/"AI" use in a FLOSS project is the moderate stance. I am not a moderate person.

Giving space to these machines is throwing the millions of people whose work they stole, the millions of people who suffer under their crawlers' assault under the bus.

We do not throw each other under the bus in a civil society. I hope you understand this to be the bare minimum.

Capitalism never uses productivity to pay for leisure. It only uses it to pay for more productivity.

We have leisure because of unions, not because of productivity.

(i.e., AI will not result in a 4-day workweek.)

I ran this poll 2 years ago and 90% of the correspondents on mastodon told me there were no required AI usage at their workplace.

I would like to ask the same question again in 2026:

“Does your workplace have any AI related requirements, either as major project goal, in performance review, or with usage analytics tracking, against your own will?”

Yesterday our keynote speaker was a “strategic futurist” so yes of course they talked about AI for 45 minutes. During a conversation at my table, people shared how they use AI and I asked one person, who was using it to summarize social chatter on the internet about certain topics, how you can vet the information given. At first I think she felt defensive, but as she talked through it you could see a realization like oh shit I really can’t.

Then toward the end of the day we had to fill out a form for compliance reporting (pharma has to report if they gave me food) and since I’m a licensed healthcare provider I have to report my NPI number (national provider identifier). I don’t have that memorized so I googled it, something I’ve done for years to quickly find it, and the AI summary said there was no information linking my full name and degree to an NPI. But if I scrolled past the summary the first website preview listed my NPI.

So I showed the woman next to me like hey here’s an example of how AI gets it completely wrong. She was floored.
