@AstaMcCarthy @rysiek subscribe to our newsletter on monkeysomething or freshmail, e-mail us on our Google Workspace hosted e-mail. What about donate to us? Any evil tech company monopolised that?
We are preparing to write an article that NGOs should stay independent - not only from governments but also in terms of tech infrastructure, whys & hows included. Inspirations welcome!
@rysiek Correction... 📢
"Join our Fediverse server on..."
@wariat well @stux did say Fediverse, and I am going to be adamant that threads-dot-net do not fit the definition of Fediverse even if it federates with some instances. Just as Gab does not fit that definition even though it supports ActivityPub.
Fediverse is not defined by a protocol, but by a shared set of ideas and values. Nothing that is controlled by Meta can be a part of it, regardless of what technical features it happens to implement.
@hannah @rysiek Revolt is pretty good. Sure, it's not federated (yet), but hosting a single instance with just your community server isn't an unreasonable use case.
I think the MVP of "federation" for revolt would be federated identity management, so you at least wouldn't need to log into each and every server someone operates just to chat there. Then the client could connect to all the servers and make it seem seamless, same as IRC clients have managed multiple remote servers since forever.
@rysiek "Join our Discord!"
Then the Discord has just one channel with one pinned post - "Join our Zulip!"
