We are ending the era of Russian fossil fuels in Europe for good!

We have proposed a gradual phase-out of Russian gas and oil imports, to be completed by the end of 2027.

This will cut energy and economic risks tied to Russian supply, while ensuring stable and secure energy for all EU countries.

Our proposal protects markets, limits price impacts, and strengthens the EU’s energy independence.

Let's turn off the tap on Russian fossil fuels in Europe for good.

@EUCommission
Kan dette være grunnen til at Macron plutselig kommer på besøk til Norge?

@EUCommission but your more than willing to allow Israeli products and services to be sold in Europe. Also, what about Hungary? Are they getting a pass on this proposal as well?

It’s ridiculous to allow a small band of thugs to dictate political policy in Europe. The vast majority of people want the war in Ukraine to end but they also want the Israelis to be held accountable for genocide in #Gaza. Bring in referendums and let the people decide.
#NeverStopTalkingAboutPalestine

@TheComfortableSpotPodcast @EUCommission Can't wait to have Kevin, Jean-Baptiste and Zuzana decide on the next vaccine we'll need after they've "done their own research", it's going to be grand. #idiocracy
@EUCommission One reliance ends and one another begins.
@EUCommission Thank goodness Europe is switching away from a warmongering fascist state run by oligarchs to get its gas from the United States
......
Oh wait...
@EUCommission Also these new gas contracts mean signing up to more years of catastrophic climate change. What SDGs does this fit into exactly???
@EUCommission Framing imported gas from the US under Trump as "stable and secure" in 2025 is so absurdly delusional, it's almost funny. The _only_ "stable and secure" energy is renewable energy produced _right here in europe_.

@EUCommission

Sure, fine.
But why didn't Russian #FossilFuels end in 2023?

@EUCommission Good in principle but I have read this is not entirely true. Apparently #HU and #SK have a carve out that allows them to continue buying #Russian hydrocarbons that is excluded from this legislation.

True or False?

@EUCommission Unfortunately, unless the @EUCommission massively ramps up its production of renewables then we risk being dependant on others who are not 'reliable' the 'Middle East' and indeed the USA too ... and that's to say nothing of #climatechange ... which has consequences for us, Russia, African and indeed all humanity ...

@EUCommission

But just replacing them with other fossil fuel suppliers instead.

@EUCommission
That's good. And what about preventing of Russian money washing? Russia (and some other suspicious states) seems still being allowed to use EU financial market for it. I would be happy to become corrected if anybody knows it better.
@EUCommission I mean, the EU is one of the sanest parts of the planet, but this EU bot just pumps out propaganda, no one is listening to replies. It's a bit pointless.

@EUCommission

Finally ‼️‼️‼️

From the view of thousands of death Ukrainians, three years to late. Ok, couldn't and can't be realized at once, of course. But for me, it's disgusting that it took three years to come here - especially given that it shall take two other years to eventually stop it.

Import of especially RUSSIAN gas has to be stopped for not to finance Putin's war in Europe anymore, with bombing only Ukrainian civilians and threatening the rest of Europe with nuclear war.

@EUCommission This should be immediate and not graduate
@EUCommission
I guess this goes some way to explain why Russia aren't making a bigger fuss about the destruction of Iran's oil production facilities.
@EUCommission I understand that some people might be against it but, a federated EU could act much faster and be less dependent on Russia, China and the US.
@EUCommission We need to phase out _all_ fossil fuels. The faster, the better.
@EUCommission Maybe we can start increasing production of renewable and nuclear energy instaed of throwing our money out of the window by importing american fossil?
@EUCommission A sensible step, but one that should have come much sooner. The question is whether Hungary and other EU countries that still import gas and oil from Russia will boycott and delay the final phase-out in 2027.
