PS:
I'm not advocating war against #Iran and in particular not against its people, which is why I am paying tribute to the reported precision of the attack.

That said, I am not even convinced that the #Netanyahu Regime had a legitimate claim to self-defense.

However, it is obvious that now is the time to "finish the job:"

1) Obliterate all nuclear capabilities in #Iran. Such an oil and gas-rich country can need nuclear power for bellicose...

...ends.

2) Decaptivate the hydra of the "#IslamicRevolution--from a western perspective.

For me, the only question is, whether it'll be a #Syrian style special-forces operation or whether it will be raining 90t bunker breaking bombs, or the equivalent of a plethora of smaller bombs to reach the nuclear facility which lies 90m below a mountain.

*Not* finishing the...

Losing air dominance will make any layer strike much riskier for the #US.

The most logical striking time is, in fact, tonight or tomorrow night.

If I were the #US supreme commander, the #Stealthbombers would already be in the air.

We will soon find out.

@HistoPol @_L1vY_ @Chadbourn If you change the 'n' at the end of 'Iran' to a 'q', you could have sent it in 2003.

Granted, there are a lot of similarities to the #CIA's #IraqWMDTale, but as @su_liam and I established in the following convo only yesterday,

@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] IOW on that last point: history circles the same attractors. Doesn’t have the same ring as “history repeats,” or even, “history rhymes.” “History rhymes,” is probably the best compromise between strict accuracy, succinctness and… um… zing.

...of similarities, but also a myriad of big differences, such as:

1. Not a three-letter national #US agency fabricated the #FakeNews about the weapons of mass destruction, #WMD, but the independent international #IEAI...

...discovered the hugely accelerated nuclear program in recent months with the highly enriched fissible material doubling and new secret #nuclear program developing sites came to light.

2. The #ABC #WMD in #Iraq were never supposed to be of the #nuclear category, but were supposed to be rather of the biological or chemical type, so no "forever-lasting" nuclear fallouts beyond the supposed area of deployment, were a threat, such as this time.

3. #Iran had,

Report to Congress on Iran’s Ballistic Missile Programs - USNI News

The following the June 17, 2025, Congressional Research Service In foucs report, Iran’s Ballistic Missile Programs: Background and Context. From the report Iran’s ballistic missile programs have long been subjects of congressional attention and legislative action in view of concerns about Iran’s nuclear program and its support for terrorist groups. International agreements and diplomatic discussions over Iran’s nuclear program have sometimes addressed Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities. Congress has authorized extensive sanctions on Iran’s missile programs and mandated executive branch reporting on Iran’s missile capabilities. In airstrikes beginning on June 13, 2025, Israel targeted Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs. Iran

These just out of the top of my head, but there are probably more incongruences.

@rowat_c @su_liam @_L1vY_ @Chadbourn

@HistoPol @su_liam @_L1vY_ @Chadbourn I was unclear: the similarity I observe between the two arguments for war was primarily structural, rather than substantial: make a list of points favouring aggression; ignore those opposing it; grant one group of people more sympathy/legitimacy/rights; ignore/undermine norms/laws put in place to foster peaceful solutions.

This is a highly successful type of argument. Ethnic Germans mistreated in the Sudetenland? Check! Ethnic Russians in Ukraine? Check!

@HistoPol @su_liam @_L1vY_ @Chadbourn Part of what makes this sort of argument so successful is its flexibility:
1. Large, undeclared stockpile of nuclear weapons?
2. Advanced, capable military?
3. Long history of using that military against other countries in that region?
4. Widespread, state-backed racism (e.g. https://apnews.com/article/israel-palestinians-jerusalem-nationalist-march-ben-gvir-0c6471592182aac205115150d1b3a552)?
5. Claims of sovereignty over land owned, occupied by others & ethnic cleansing to support them?

What conclusion should you draw, for consistency?

Thousands chant 'death to Arabs' during annual procession on Jerusalem Day

Groups of Israeli Jews chanting “Death to Arabs” have made their way through Muslim neighborhoods of Jerusalem’s Old City. It's part of an annual march marking Israel’s conquest of the eastern part of the city. Palestinian shopkeepers closed up early Monday. Police lined the narrow alleys ahead of the march that often becomes a rowdy and sometimes violent procession of ultranationalist Jews. Meanwhile, a small group of protesters stormed a compound in east Jerusalem belonging to the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees. They included an Israeli member of parliament. The events threatened to inflame tensions after nearly 600 days of war in Gaza.

AP News
@rowat_c @HistoPol @_L1vY_ @Chadbourn That same argument could also be readily(and not unfairly) applied to Israel. Or the US. Given the example of North Korea, places like Iran and Ukraine(and Palestine) might be enjoying a more peaceful existence if they had gained or retained nukes.
