@jimthewhyguy you are so mad at the symptoms, but you fucken love the underlying causes

Finally someone speaking the truth. Fyi the parade is not for Trump, I'm not a supporter of him either,The U.S. Army's 250th anniversary parade, held in Washington, D.C. on June 14, 2025, is estimated to have cost between $25 million and $45 million. Some reports suggest the cost could be as high as $92 million, including $13 million for police expenses alone, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting.
In general (and with no sympathy to Trump), it wouldn't be uncommon for some date to become important only decades or centuries after, when some event was post-facto decided to have "started" there. Famously US govt spent a lot of money for getting the map that first named the continent "America", as it was seen as "start" of the federation.

But to get back to the original question of why US Army gets birthday parade only now:
IIRC, US Army in present self has only existed since WW2, after which it started to get less popular, peaking in Vietnam.
Further, during the Cold War, USA wanted to portray "human-faced capitalism" and coups etc. weren't in the front of the message.
It's only after post-Soviet that USA declared itself "world police" at which the army becomes the centre of US self-image.
The civil Army of Men and Women and Children was bigger then, than the real Army of the United States. March on and may the #Force be with you !
