ABC7 reports that there *was* a dispersal order given, about 45 minutes ago (which would be 4:30 PM Los Angeles time as I write this)
AP has a perspective on the back of the current stating location for the LA County Sherriff's weapons. Note the LRAD in the bottom left, ready to permanently damage the hearing of the crowd.
That Chenzo guy I watched last night is at the same location as LordHito now
ABC7 is also broadcasting, reminding their viewers that the chants of "peaceful protests" are meaningless actually because there is a dispersal order
and why do you think there was a dispersal order given for a peaceful protest, guys?
Regular firing of tear gas and flashbangs now, as well as targeted fire of PepperBall®s
ABC7 clutching their pearls about "antagonists" in the crowd throwing bottles of water at the police
proportional response is so long dead
hut hut hut hut hut hut hut hut
time to do a civil suppression fellas
ABC7 reporter is saying that he's seen somebody use a "boogie board" for defense against the police violence
well, he didn't say it like *that*, he did it in commercially-acceptable criticism of the crowd for being disorganized after the cops have prosecuted over an hour of active violent disruption of the crowd because… well, I guess because they were tired of the crowd being peacefully assembled where they were assembled.
Large armored police vehicle with the word "rescue" written on the side of it 🙄
ABC7 reports that the city camera system and on-site drones are providing lots of intel for LAPD
Going to be weird as drone warfare tactics continue to take off with US police. It's still just an accessory right now.
ABC7 explains that 40mm rounds "do not *necessarily* break the skin"
LAPD are steadily firing on the crowd at City Hall, but the lines are not moving.
Just saw a motorcycle near the skirmish line that AP are standing by. The cops unloaded on him, but he turned around, wasn't there for the kind of trouble the cops have in mind (not that this ever matters, if a cop feels scared their actions are always justified, no matter what)
ABC7's crew is being notified by police to put on their masks. Cops are masking up, too. Here comes a bunch more tear gas.
Sherriff's deputies are also masking up. They have not been moving but that may change with this next wave of police aggression.
"Look how effective that is" ABC7's reporter says as the police begin unloading flashbangs and tear gas. Really eating this up.
The LA County Sherriff's Department are now moving up, with lots of riot shields and hand-thrown tear gas and flashbangs.
The front of City Hall has been cleared, the crowd is mostly down the side or in Grand Park now.
LA County Sherriff's Department is very much off the leash tonight. ABC7 reporter said something about how they are taking the lead for gassing the crowd.
I've heard the phrase "high-grade fireworks" a bunch this week.
What the fuck is that supposed to mean? I don't have high expectations for copaganda but you gotta try harder than *that*, man.
LAPD: "Our officers have been patient [and] utilizing de-escalation…"
Reminder that the dispersal order was given because cops were having debris thrown at them and the escalation of violence from the cops has been steady from that point without any reciprocity from the crowd except a tendency to linger and, you know, protest.
Some dork with one of those black-and-white-and-blue fascist flags is walking behind the police line their perimeter.
Someone with a megaphone near the near the Al Rojo Vivo camera in Austin is telling the crowd "let's keep it moving, guys" and exhorting them against "disturbing the peace". Some loud counter-protester is audible nearby arguing with people and being a dickhead.
Large crowd of police cruisers with sirens on moving in near LordHito in L.A. The line he's standing behind is being collapsed and moving up after the vehicles, I think, based on what one of the cops just said to the others.
This LAPD officer radios that a large group of press are following him, and I guess it's unsettling because he reaches for his emotional support pistol for a bit to calm down about it.
Bunch of bike cops in Austin. Giant-brand. Looks like the Talon 1 which is specifically manufactured for police departments.

Cops in L.A. just shot a guy who was sitting down at the skirmish line with a sign reading "Fuck Israel". < 100 ft.
He walked it off and came back to that spot. A dozen more shots, and he's gone.
"We need to speed up the tempo when we're pushing" says an LAPD officer as the line begins to advance on the protesters.
L.A. curfew begins in 50 minutes. This is still pretty deep downtown, but the broad strategy is pretty obviously to gradually clear DTLA well before then with steadily advancing waves of police violence.
The media are being instructed to remain parallel with a police vehicle that is advancing behind the footsoldiers.
Naturally, these vehicles are much further back than the media previously were.
Cops feeling nervous having people that close behind them as they do their little civil rights suppression routine, I guess?
AXN News is also pacing this line from the other side of the street from LordHito, but his production quality is better.
He says there's an Univision crew nearby, to look out for him as the gordito fellow for people watching that broadcast (I am trying to find it now)
Hearing fireworks in L.A. now, the crowd is quite far off from the police skirmish line.
The streets in L.A. are littered with 40mm rounds. This guy is collecting some, showed them off to the camera
@SnoopJ The AP live cam also showed some other "shell casings" at 3rd and Broadway. They were maybe 1.5" / 40 mm diameter, but much longer - something like 10" / 250 mm or so. Do you know what those are?
The police line is moving south on Broadway, and the police had just shot *something* a couple of minutes before the AP cam filmed it, so I'm pretty sure the casing came from the police.
@SnoopJ Could be. On the video, you'd hear the "crack" of something being fired, followed very shortly by the "ting-ting-ting-ting" of something hitting the ground and rolling away.
The AP cam was maybe 20 feet behind the police line when they fired. When the police moved forward, the camera operator made a point of stopping to film several of those shells on the curb before proceeding.
There were also some short, squat shells that looked a lot like the ones the guy in your screen grab is showing off.
The sequence I saw starts at about 10:39:34 in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWBUbqYDbVA
Edit to add: 1) direct link to that time point in the Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWBUbqYDbVA#t=10h39m34s
2) Screen grab at 10:39:50. The relatively long shells - 8-10" or 200-250 mm - are the ones of interest. (Image is copyright 2025 Associated Press; I plead fair use.)
@pair12 I think these may be extra-long 37mm "baton" rounds. This seems like a close match:
https://www.defense-technology.com/product/37-mm-multiple-foam-baton-round/
Technical specifications list the length at 200mm
@SnoopJ I think that's it!
I remembered that one of NBC 4's field reporters was talking about the stuff left behind on the streets, and looked through their video.
At one point, she picked up one of those casings and showed it to the camera.

The long shell she picks up has that bold "FOAM BATON" label on it, along with what is probably a trademark.
