@joeinwynnewood I was referring to @indivisibleteam canceling their protest in Minnesota following Melissa Hortman’s murder. I wish they could be as strong and resilient as the protestors they claim to organize are. Indivisible may be scared by right wing terror, but the rest of us won’t be.
I'm sorry, as a local leader who works with dozens of sister group leaders, I very much disagree.
Following the direction of the Democratic Governor of MN has nothing to do with fear.
It reflects the organization's commitment to the safety of our members and wider community.
There was no time for deliberation or consultation with local leaders because of the nature of the situation.
If there was, I'm 100% confident the events would have gone on as planned.
On the #NoKings nationwide debrief call, and it turns out that the Twin Cities Indivisible Leaders didn't do what the state police asked, they said no, not going to cancel and they didn't.
To be clear, Indivisible isn't a top-down thing, it's a bottom up thing. That's been true from the beginning and is still very much true. National offers help and opportunities for action, never dictates.
