dissociation be like

@Aphrodite @kate

Once, at work, I was told that people were saying that I was asleep in the bathroom.

I was not in the bathroom at the time. Nor had I been recently.

So I think I can be fairly confident that it wasn't me. 🙄

@kate just after the devastating 1938 Hurricane which made landfall Sept 21 of that year.

"The storm surge was especially violent along the Rhode Island coastline, sweeping hundreds of summer cottages out to sea."

@kate seems pretty cut & dried to me
@kate how does that even happen

@kate

One day, I met a former pupil who said, “Someone told me you were dead!” I confess that, at the time, I thought of pinching myself to make sure I was alive.

@kate

The actual catch of that story? He lied.

@kate @cstross but now I also kinda wanna know what happens if you say "yep, that body is mine"..

@uep @kate @cstross

I can't find it now but there was a screenshot circulating of the UK registration portal, and the first question was "Is this registration for yourself or someone else?"

I'm sure that if you don't register your death then you might be arrested and so be late for your own funeral.

@Cadbury_Moose @kate @cstross i recall seeing that too. Perhaps it's a bit like the conspiracy theory that the lottery exists only as a trap for time-travellers..
@uep @kate @cstross
The Lost Property Office asks you to sign a receipt then you get to take it home and try not to leave it behind on the bus this time.
@kate "Are you quite sure about that, Charles? Take as much time as you need to answer."
@kate Have been thinking of offering to proofread my own obituary. You just *know* they will get something wrong otherwise
@kate And of course that Cuba museum that holds two skulls of Columbus, as a youth and as an old man...

@martinvermeer @kate

There's a museum in Praque which claims that communism was so bad that people didn't even have money for cellphones.

@kate
It's good that he checked, though.
