How it started, how it's going. 🍂
After trying in vain to find a nice embroidery idea, I just came up with my own. Is it objectively very good embroidery? Probably not. Did I de-wrinkle my brain by doing it instead of something else? Yes. Would a plan or more thread options have helped? Yes. Is it now on there? Certainly! 😆

#Embroidery #HandSewing

I'm not an embroiderer. I can embroider things, but it's the same difference between being able to slap together a chair that doesn't fall over right away - doing carpentry - and making something beautiful and lasting that you can sit on - being a carpenter!

Both are valuable but they're not the same!

Stopping for the night. Ironed it a bit, the lighting is terrible but the second flower also looks sufficiently flower-like.
I do need a third leaf at least, and maybe a little flower bud somewhere, but location thus far unknown. Perhaps it will be revealed to me in a dream. It has certainly been revealed to me that I want to change one of the yellow bobbles...

Yesterday I did not stop for the night, but instead changed the top flower a bit, and started on another leaf. I want to change the flower a little more, but genuinely need to stop on this side since I also need to do the other side... But as a treat, perhaps I finish the leaf today before I get started on doing the things I actually need to do today!

It's amazing how much neater, tidier and easier this is on the second day and after one sleep.

I think it might have to do for now. I did get distracted with the decorative bit and forgot the functional bit (the flossing on the boning channels!) so I'll have to do that later maybe, but... Yes. Definitely a bit wobbly here and there, but looks striking and nice enough!

Could add a couple more leaves here and there... I like doing the leaves, they're really nice.
@sinituulia ooh, that's very pretty, I love the variety in the gold floss 😍
@doneknitting Thank you! I blended different amounts of embroidery floss strands from a plain gold and a slightly variegated gold. It's pretty subtle but I felt it differentiated the plant parts a bit!
@sinituulia oh, that's a clever idea, it works well in the leaves 🌿
@sinituulia Can you tell me about the stitch used with the white thread? It looks like maybe each loop completes and secures the one before it. Does this stitch type have a name I can look up?
@jendefer Oh yes! It's just blanket stitch, but done in a fan shape. Very simple, pretty quick and very versatile. You can also do a lot of stuff based on it, with adding stitches in between or on it. The leaves are the same stitch, just in a different shape and density!
@sinituulia That is so beautiful, you have great skill!
@SamanthaJaneSmith Thank you! Still learning, but still!
@sinituulia Hi Karvinen
@PalmAndNeedle He has been participating a lot today, he's laying on top of my arm as I type this
@sinituulia Awesome embroidery, not-an-embroiderer 😄

@sindarina Thank you. 😆 I didn't call myself a tailor after multiple years of tailoring and still hesitate to do so! Just because you know some stuff doesn't mean you're actually proficient!

I'd say I'm an embroidery enjoyer? 🤔
