Instances aren't discussion forums, you can interact with discussions and follow people even if they are on different instances.

Was there something specific you wanted from multiple instances that you are unable to do with your current account?

@FediGarden Yes, one of the magical things of mastodon topic instances is to just browse through recent posts from the community, all geared towards that topic, and find new users to follow and new content to interact with.

You can browse through recent posts from any server by going to its website and clicking on "Live Feeds". Some third party apps also let you follow other servers' live feeds including Fedilab and Subway Tooter on Android, Ice Cubes on iPhone/iPad.
