i fought thru tough arthritis flares for this incredible view and a few amazing days of hiking and biking.

@ai6yr truly! i took so many awesome pics and didn't have to deal with any bears πŸ˜€ what a beautiful little town
@rustoleumlove It's been a long time since I was there (as a kid... with my parents... many melted glaciers ago 😬 ). I could not believe how much wildlife was just... EVERYWHERE.

@ai6yr

wow. i'd love to hear your take on how it's changed. development there is apparently v limited.

i saw many deer, a few elk. a guide told me some species like those learned to stay close to town bc they know humans dont like bears so it's safer for them.
so an elk herd just roams around Banff (maybe always has?)

LOTS of birds, squirrels, etc..
no cougars or wolves either, but that's ok w me - i prefer to stay outta their way πŸ˜‚

the glory of nature is on full display, for sure.

@rustoleumlove @ai6yr WOW! So jealous! I was supposed to do a hiking/camping trip there this summer with REI, but that got cancelled when they shut down their travel division. I really, really need to get there while I can still enjoy it.

@Nshrubs

yes!

i put banff off for a long time, figuring it was something i could always see. but i dreamt of it for sure...

when Lytton, BC burned, and then Jasper last year, i realized i couldnt put the trip off much longer...then politics got involved too.
regardless of all of that, it's a wonderful place.

i heard so many languages, everyone was super friendly. i highly recommend it and yeah, get there while you still can!!

@rustoleumlove fantastic! I was there in June 1982 (yes, long ago) and we were planning to camp. Perhaps we were a bit naive but there was no internet back then to tell us that because of the amount of snow in the Rockies campsites might not even be open! There were elks wandering around the Main Street and big horned sheep, moose disappearing into forest as we drove by. Your photo suggests a lot less snow than the year we went. Good luck with future adventures!

@InaSpin

thanks so much!

yes, there was literally no snow, and no ice on any of the trails i hiked

BUT - the ski/snowboard shuttle bus was still running to a few resorts, so the season was not quite over

but it's getting warmer, for sure.

@rustoleumlove
Fantastic
I've got such nice memories from the Rockies !
@rustoleumlove close to Banff is Peyto Lake
@rustoleumlove I'd incorrectly mentioned it as Lake Placid.
@rustoleumlove
Welcome in! It's a beautiful place indeed!
@rustoleumlove What an amazing looking valley!
