wow. i'd love to hear your take on how it's changed. development there is apparently v limited.
i saw many deer, a few elk. a guide told me some species like those learned to stay close to town bc they know humans dont like bears so it's safer for them.
so an elk herd just roams around Banff (maybe always has?)
LOTS of birds, squirrels, etc..
no cougars or wolves either, but that's ok w me - i prefer to stay outta their way π
the glory of nature is on full display, for sure.
@rustoleumlove @ai6yr Remembering Banff for the elk in my hotel's yard. Not shy.

The IAG International Symposium on Gravity, Geoid and Geodynamics 2000 (GGG2000) took place in Banff, Alberta, Canada, from July 31 to August 4, 2000. This symposium continued the tradition of mid-term meetings ("GraGeoMar96: Gravity, Geoid and Marine Geodesy", Tokyo, Japan, Sept. 30 - Oct. 5,1996)...
yes!
i put banff off for a long time, figuring it was something i could always see. but i dreamt of it for sure...
when Lytton, BC burned, and then Jasper last year, i realized i couldnt put the trip off much longer...then politics got involved too.
regardless of all of that, it's a wonderful place.
i heard so many languages, everyone was super friendly. i highly recommend it and yeah, get there while you still can!!
thanks so much!
yes, there was literally no snow, and no ice on any of the trails i hiked
BUT - the ski/snowboard shuttle bus was still running to a few resorts, so the season was not quite over
but it's getting warmer, for sure.
