Allotment grower, bread maker and wool spinner. Try to keep my footprint small. Obsessed with politics. We had a rule when my children were growing up of ‘one divides the other chooses’ - a simple way to ensure fair distribution of anything. My OH says I have an exaggerated sense of fairness! New to this place so still working it out.

The more I notice the small things that nourish me, the more energy I seem to possess.

The more energy I spend on curiosity, the easier it is to love the world.

The more I love the world, the bigger and richer my life feels.

The bigger my life feels, the more I want to share it with others.

The more I share with others, the more hopeful I become about the nature of our universe.

The more hopeful I become, the more small things seem to nourish me.

Earlier today, I ate some mulberries from trees I planted six years ago. I watched birds eating from these same trees.

Often it takes years to understand the magic of something that seemed mundane in the moment. Digging a few holes. Planting a few seedlings. Trusting to time, nature, and intention.

I have made a complaint to the BBC -

"In the news on social media and some newspapers today there are reports that the BBC is considering making changes to appeal to 'Reform' voters. This is not what the BBC should be doing - You are not meant to be anything other than factual and unbiased.

It should also be made clear that 'Reform' is a private company that makes money for its owner - it has no responsibility to its supporters - or anyone.

You should not be promoting this company."

Ilkley Moor, the alternative reality I can escape to in minutes. A distant horizon, the absence, mostly, of human clamour - and the wildlife, sadly depleted in this impoverished island, but still glorious.

A 180x90mm wood engraving. Gritstone, lichens and mosses, bilberry, cottongrass, crowberry and heather, green hairstreak butterfly, adder, curlew and red kite. And the ever present meadow pipit.

Blue Labour's pernicious influence over the Labour party is now focussed on dismantling Diversity, Equality & Inclusion provisions across the UK (following the logic of the Trump administration), supposedly to help Labour claim voters back from ReformUK.

But lets be clear; this is just a fig leaf for an older logic that looks to (once again) blame migration & multiculturalism for the travails of the UK.

This would be a move precisely in the wrong direction.

Blue Labour group urges ministers to ‘root out DEI’ to win over Reform voters

I know I'm old man yelling at clouds, but I miss not only physical buttons on devices, but multiple physical buttons.

I'm really getting tired of the current trend seen on headphones. Hold for 5 seconds to turn on, hold 5 seconds to turn off. Tap once for volume up. Double tap for next song, triple tap to turn on noise canceling. Hold the button down for 20 seconds while patting your head and doing interpretive dance in order to pair Bluetooth.

Give me an on/off switch. Give me an analog volume wheel. Give me dedicated buttons for functions

It's like a generation of designers grew up with one button Apple mice, and forgot how much more simple doing actual work with dedicated buttons actually is

Buy books. But not from Amazon. Buy them from Bookshop.org, the independent site. This move by Amazon is shameful.
