Pleasance moat. The Pleasance is a square raised area surrounded by a double moat, now mostly dry, built as a party site by Henry V, nearly a mile from Kenilworth Castle.

Another #FolderWeek post: two more thatched cottages. The second has just been re-thatched; if you look closely just above the upstairs window, you might see that there are at least 3 different layers of thatch here! I love the fluid shapes that thatched roofs can have, but they must be seriously expensive to maintain!

Waterbirds among the frosted reeds. The swans help to keep small areas of water clear of ice; this is the first time I've seen them [EDIT: keep the water clear] this far up among the reeds.
