I watched Kodachrome because I’ve always loved the colours that Kodak’s film brought into the world of photography, and because Ed Harris is one hell of an actor. It turned out to be a wonderful surprise: a genuinely beautiful film, with a heartfelt story and several truly memorable moments along the way.

I can’t help but feel like the right amount of temperature between seasons, the right amount of salt in a meal, or the right size of clothes when I look at a #kodachrome picture. It just feels to me like we would never need to worry anymore, as a human species, about filters, #photo colors, and whatever else. We already had it right.

Kodachrome Photographs Document Daily Life and Landmarks in San Francisco During 1965

This article presents a collection of 30 Kodachrome color slides capturing scenes from San Francisco throughout 1965, offering a vivid visual record of the city during a period of cultural transition. The photographs showcase many of San Francisco’s most recognizable locations, including Chinatown, North Beach, Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay Bridge. Several images highlight everyday street life, cable cars climbing the city’s steep hills, nighttime scenes in Chinatown, and views of prominent buildings and monuments such as the Columbus Tower, the Belli Building, and Saints Peter and Paul Church. One particularly notable image shows a prototype Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) car displayed in Union Square before the transit system became operational. The collection reflects a city that still retained much of its traditional character while beginning to experience the social and cultural changes that would soon culminate in the Summer of Love and the rise of the hippie movement. According to the article, 1965 represented a pivotal moment when San Francisco was evolving from its beatnik-era identity into a center of youth counterculture. The rich colors and clarity of Kodachrome film provide a detailed look at urban life, architecture, transportation, and local neighborhoods during this historically significant year. Overall, the photo series serves as both a historical document and a nostalgic glimpse into San Francisco shortly before one of the most influential cultural transformations in American history.

"Kodachrome" is a song by the American singer-songwriter #PaulSimon. It was the lead #single from his third studio album, #ThereGoesRhyminSimon (1973), released on #ColumbiaRecords. The song is named after #Kodak's now-discontinued #reversalFilm brand, #Kodachrome.

A souvenir from my #Google+ collection, "Americana", exterminated along with several other large collections.

Some survived (mostly before and after the 8 years of G+) on my own hand-made pages (fenfotos.com) and thankfully, I posted many favorites on Flickr as well.

Not this one (until now), but worth a visit if you enjoy this genre &/or time. Enjoy.

This was one of my enduring memories from "Pennsylvania Dutch" country near #Lancaster PA. It was - until now - only online in my large Google+ "Americana Collection"

(See sample in comment below).
