S.G. Goodman (Stacey Greene, that is) is a Kentucky based folk and country singer who usually works in the traditional forms with some rootsy southern rock influences injected into her music in varying proportions. She has a raw presentation that evokes dirty country roads and dusty roadside bars, with bluesy, earthy tones running through her songs. That is not to say that her rock does not veer into an indie direction now and then. Her songwriting draws from a personal place with themes centered around realities of life in a small town in rural America in the South intermingled with a melancholic sense of loss that remains constant at the surface or thereabouts, delivered in a quivering voice that keeps her emotions out in the open.
