#FBI Dir #KashPatel said Friday the bureau had arrested a #Milwaukee #judge & charged her w/obstructing an #immigration arrest op last week—the 1st known instance of *Justice* prosecuting a local official for allegedly interfering w/immigration enforcement since #Trump returned to office.

Patel announced the arrest of Milwaukee County Circuit Judge #HannahDugan in a post on social media, which he deleted moments after posting.

The post accused Judge Dugan of “intentionally misdirecting” federal agents who arrived at the courthouse to detain an immigrant who was set to appear before her in an unrelated proceeding.

“Thankfully, our agents chased down the perp on foot & he’s been in custody since,” #KashPatel wrote. “But the Judge’s obstruction created increased danger to the public.”

Acc/to reporting by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, #ICE agents arrived in Judge Dugan’s courtroom last Friday during a pre-trial hearing for Eduardo Flores Ruiz, a 30-yr-old Mexican national who is facing misdemeanor battery charges in Wisconsin.

Dugan asked the agents to leave & speak to the circuit court’s chief judge, the Journal Sentinel reported. By the time they returned, Flores Ruiz had left.

“We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject—an illegal alien—to evade arrest,” Patel wrote.

Judges in some jurisdictions across the country have criticized #ICE’s efforts to locate & detain migrants at courthouses. They say those efforts have made migrants unwilling to show up as victims or witnesses in unrelated hearings because they are afraid they might face arrest.

Judge Dugan was scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephen Dries at 10:30AM April 25 on the second floor of the Federal Courthouse in downtown Milwaukee, according to two federal sources.

Brady McCarron, spox for US Marshals Service in Washington, DC, confirmed Dugan was arrested at about 8AM at the Milwaukee County Courthouse & is in federal custody.
