#makers, #coders of the #fediverse, how do you escape the trap of "not doing the thing?"

I spend my whole day at work with ideas for one of my projects popping into my head that I'm excited to implement, but then I get home and play a video game and watch Youtube until I go to bed. Why is it so hard to get started?

Any tips and tricks for making the on-ramp back to where you left off as smooth as possible?

I think in my case I let fear of problems I can't solve stop me from trying in the first place. I even have concrete examples of problems I've imagined that haven't even come to pass to look back on. I need a confidence boost.
@GandalfDG for me its a few things. during the work week i work on projects. i have a list which lives in my head or when it feels like a lot then i write it out quick. then i prioritize it cuz some stuff isnt getting done. at this point i feel a bit over whelmed. i push that aside and see what sparks my interest the most and aim for that. then if i am working on something already I will always stop on a high note when possible. That way i want to work on it again.
@GandalfDG on the same token i try not to tell anyone about a project until i am a good chunk in. otherwise i use up the feeling of that and i feel less motivated
@GandalfDG not sure this addresses the problem, but for me, it's super important that I leave an 'introduction' to myself when I stop working. it may be a description of the next steps, or a short to do list, even some details about the current bug being fixed. that makes it much easier to start again, for me.
@miturian that's a good idea. Even if it's just a matter of getting on my computer and picking up where I left off it takes a bit to get any sort of momentum going.
