Waiting in running gear at pedestrian lights near the city square, I noticed someone in running gear waiting on the other side. I was hefting an ironing board picked up on the way home. He held a bag of potting soil. Beside me, a young couple in wedding-guest finery carried a giant pack of toilet rolls. It struck me as a sign of a livable, walkable city.
