The billionaires think they're speedrunning America through the fall of democracy and rise of their fascist utopia

but

in reality they're speed-educating Americans about why we have a democracy and rule-of-law in the first place.

Like I'm sure I learned at some point what *habeus corpus* was

but now

I *really* know what it means

"For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of trial by jury:

For transporting us beyond seas to be tried for pretended offenses:"

Yo, that's our Declaration of Independence.

Shit was real back then and shitty tyrants were doing the same shit and fuck alllll that

"courts compile evidence of the Trump government’s failures to live up to what the Constitution and the rule of law require of it, the importance of this issue and the denial of Abrego Garcia’s due process rights seem to be breaking through to the public."

On Tuesday, a federal judge in Maryland, Paula Xinis, took up Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia’s motion for “additional relief.” The motion asked the Judge to:

Civil Discourse with Joyce Vance

They are afraid to show him, afraid for us to know what they’ve done. Van Hollen cannot stop.

Let me get this straight... Republican congressmen are allowed to take vanity tours in CECOT prison in El Salvador, but Senator Chris Van Hollen is denied entry to check on the welfare of his wrongly imprisoned constituent? [contains quote post or other embedded content]

@susankayequinn Shit is real right now too along with the present day shitty tyrants.
@susankayequinn I love this take and I want it to be true
@susankayequinn Here's hoping!

@susiemagoo

I mean, we definitely have to make that be the case, right? Educating is part of the fight.

@susankayequinn This is becoming the political awakening of the masses that we've needed for decades. :)
@susankayequinn there's a large number of MAGA cultists who appear to be unteachable
@susankayequinn I am less optimistic and think your "have" likely should be a "had". Let's see if Americans will fight to get them back.

@susankayequinn Only if we're well educated and self-aware enough to get the message.

@jonathanpeterson

then again, there's nothing quite like lived experience to really cement in the lesson

@susankayequinn Here in Canada we're watching and taking notes. I think there will be a quiz soon! 🇨🇦
@dwarmstrong I need y’all to keep the democracy going up there, k?

@susankayequinn Will do!

"It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us... that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
-- Abraham Lincoln, November 19, 1863

@susankayequinn well let's see which one is faster

@mc

let’s work to make the latter faster

@susankayequinn I'm cheering for you from Europe, maybe we will benefit too from the cautionary tale

@susankayequinn The issue will be timing. Education and protesting will be ineffective, and a more direct resistance will be necessary. Preparing people and households for that needs to be part of this process or we won't have a chance when that day comes.

It is probably closer than anyone wants to admit.

@_Dreugan_

It's incredibly destructive to say "education and protesting will be ineffective"

So many people who want to encourage violent resistance (or "more direct resistance will be necessary") do so by saying everything else is pointless/ineffective, and not only is that incorrect, it's accelerationist

You're encouraging the path of maximum harm while thinking that's somehow a good thing

@susankayequinn Don't be so naive. If you don't think a fascist oligarchy is capable of completely suppressing protests and fundamentally altering education at all levels, you need to brush up on history. Hitler accomplished it in 53 days. Stalin did it over the course of decades. The Chinese give us the best modern path. Just ask the students at Tianamen Square. He'll we've already done it once in WWII.

If you want to sit back and let it happen, that's fine. Just don't day we didn't warn you.

@_Dreugan_

Sit back and let it happen?

You're the one that's saying all protest and education is "ineffective".

I'm the one out here actually protesting and educating and actually doing things to fight this at every level.

you earned this block in record time

@susankayequinn I said it WILL become ineffective. Keep it up until that point, but it will end.

Hell, if you are married or changed your name, you are going to have a much harder time voting when SAVE passes the Senate. Most states have already capitulated with the threats of funding, so we are probably screwed.
