I often let my cat out.
Almost never let it in.
And yet, I never seem to be rid of a cat. ^-^

(We have a cat door. She doesn't like to use it. So she begs to go out. Begging to be let in doesn't get her anywhere, so she goes around to the cat door and comes in by herself. ... And then asks to be let out. 🙄 )

It also made me think of The Door into Summer by Robert Heinlein, the cat was the namesake of my cat long ago.
@mlippert It's a really fun sequel to Howl's Moving Castle. Definitely one of my favourite stories of hers.
I don't know that story by Heinlein. Maybe I'll see if I can find it 🤔
